BYD has given its sporty Seal 06 GT electric hatchback a major 2026 upgrade. Launched in China on 2 April 2026, the refreshed GT drops in BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash-charging technology, lifting the entry range to 520 km and the top trim to 620 km (CLTC) — and adding a headline 10–70% charge in around five minutes. The lineup spans four trims from ¥128,900 to ¥169,900 (about $18,700 to $24,600), with up to 240 kW (321 hp), rear-wheel drive and, on the top 620 Max, LiDAR-based God's Eye B assisted driving. This replaces the pre-refresh car (505 km / 59.5 kWh): the current model uses a 57.54 kWh pack for 520 km and a 69.07 kWh pack for 620 km. It's one of the cheapest ways into a 600 km-plus electric hatch that recharges almost as fast as you can grab a coffee.
Performance & Specs
The Seal 06 GT is a rear-wheel-drive electric hatch with a single rear motor. The 520 and 520 Plus trims make 200 kW (268 hp) and 230 Nm from a 57.54 kWh battery, while the 620 Plus and 620 Max step up to 240 kW (321 hp) and 310 Nm with a larger 69.07 kWh pack. The hotter 620 cars hit 100 km/h in about 6.6 seconds and top out at 200 km/h — properly brisk for an affordable hatch. Both batteries use BYD's new second-generation Blade chemistry, which is what unlocks the flash charging. It's tuned as a fun, efficient daily driver rather than an all-out hot hatch, but the GT badge is more than skin deep.

At 4,630 mm long on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, the Seal 06 GT is a roomy compact hatch — noticeably bigger than an MG4 or Leapmotor Lafa 5, which helps interior and boot space. Behind the rear seats there's a 595-litre boot, growing to 1,058 litres with them folded, plus a handy 66-litre frunk under the bonnet for cables. It rides on 18-inch wheels with 225/50 tyres. The low 1,490 mm roofline gives it a sleek, GT-like stance while still seating four adults in comfort.

Charging & Battery
The big 2026 upgrade is BYD's flash-charging system, paired with the second-generation Blade Battery. BYD claims a 10–70% top-up in around five minutes, and a full 10–97% in about nine minutes, on a compatible ultra-fast charger — genuinely class-leading for an affordable hatch and the car's signature feature. Home AC charging takes roughly 10 hours for a full top-up. Both the 57.54 kWh (520 km) and 69.07 kWh (620 km) packs use the new Blade chemistry, which brings the well-known thermal stability of LFP along with the faster charging. For most owners, that 5-minute splash-and-dash effectively erases range anxiety.

Design & Interior
The Seal 06 GT keeps its sharp, sporty hatchback shape, with full-LED headlights, a connected full-width LED tail-light bar and a clean, handle-flush profile in the silver shown. Inside, the cabin is built around BYD's familiar 15.6-inch central touchscreen and a 10.25-inch driver display, with a three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and a light, airy two-tone trim. It's a practical, value-focused interior rather than a plush one, but it's well laid out, with a wireless charger, cup-holders and the usual BYD storage. The dashboard runs BYD's connected software with voice control, navigation and over-the-air updates, and the system can be switched to English for export buyers. Up front there are sports-style seats, a panoramic glass roof on higher trims and a floating centre console, while the low, coupe-like roofline gives the GT a genuinely sporty look without badly hurting rear headroom. For a car at this price, the perceived quality and equipment level are strong — this is a hatch that feels engineered to a budget but not cheapened by it.
Safety & ADAS
Driver assistance is where the trims differ most. The entry 520 ships without an ADAS package, the 520 Plus and 620 Plus add God's Eye C (BYD's vision-based system), and the top 620 Max steps up to God's Eye B with a roof-mounted LiDAR sensor for more capable navigation-assisted driving — rare hardware at this price. All cars get a 360-degree camera, parking sensors and BYD's standard active-safety suite, and the LFP Blade battery brings its well-regarded thermal safety to the package.
| ADAS LEVEL | L2 (God's Eye C std on Plus / God's Eye B + LiDAR on 620 Max) |

| ADAS FEATURES | NOA, auto parking, 360° camera, parking sensors, LiDAR (620 Max) |

Pricing & Availability
The refreshed 2026 Seal 06 GT launched in China on 2 April 2026, priced from ¥128,900 to ¥169,900 (about $18,700 to $24,600) across the four trims. The 520 and 520 Plus use the 57.54 kWh battery for 520 km; the 620 Plus and 620 Max use the 69.07 kWh pack for 620 km, with the top 620 Max adding LiDAR-based God's Eye B. (Mid-trim prices above are approximate within the official band.) It's a China-market car for now, but with English-language software it's an obvious export candidate — and one of the best value flash-charging EVs you can buy.
How It Compares
The Seal 06 GT's trump card is charging: nothing in this class matches a genuine 5-minute splash. The Leapmotor Lafa 5 is cheaper and even quicker in a straight line, but tops out at 605 km and lacks the flash-charge tech; the MG4 EV is a sharp-handling benchmark but offers less range and a smaller battery; and BYD's own Dolphin is a smaller, cheaper supermini for buyers who don't need the space or range. With more length, up to 620 km and that flash-charging headline, the Seal 06 GT is the practicality-and-charging pick of the group.
- Class-leading flash charging — 10–70% in about 5 minutes
- Up to 620 km CLTC range from the 2nd-gen Blade battery
- Up to 321 hp RWD with a 6.6 s 0–100 km/h
- Roomy for the class, with a 66 L frunk; LiDAR ADAS on the 620 Max
- Entry 520 trim ships without any ADAS package
- Value-focused cabin materials, not a premium feel
- Flash-charge speeds need a compatible ultra-fast charger
- China-only for now
The 2026 Seal 06 GT is a big step on from the car it replaces. By fitting BYD's second-generation Blade Battery and flash charging, it now offers up to 620 km of range and a genuinely class-leading 5-minute fast charge — all in a roomy, good-looking, rear-drive hatch with up to 321 hp and a 6.6-second 0–100 km/h. Prices from around $18,700 make it one of the best-value electric hatches on sale, and the LiDAR-equipped 620 Max is remarkable kit for the money. It isn't perfect — the base 520 skips ADAS, the cabin is functional rather than fancy, and you'll need a fast charger to see those headline numbers — but as an affordable, do-everything EV that charges almost as quickly as you can refuel, the Seal 06 GT is hard to beat.
