The 2027 Kia EV2 fits up to 453 km of WLTP range into a 4.06-metre electric crossover that starts at €26,600 (~$29,600) in Germany. It has one front motor, a 42.2 kWh LFP or 61.0 kWh NMC battery, DC charging from 10 to 80 percent in 29 to 30 minutes and a 362 L boot. Euro NCAP gave it five stars in October 2026, and the 61 kWh Air at €33,490 (~$37,300) is the version most buyers should look at.
Key facts
- Price: €26,600 (~$29,600) to €40,890 (~$45,500) in Germany; £27,995 (~$37,200) for the Air in the UK, or £24,245 (~$32,200) after the grant
- Power: 107.8 kW (146 PS / 144 hp) with 42.2 kWh, 99.5 kW (135 PS / 133 hp) with 61.0 kWh, 250 Nm on both
- Range: 317 km WLTP (42.2 kWh), up to 453 km (61.0 kWh), 418 km on the GT-Line; 14.9 kWh/100 km for the 61 kWh Air (ADAC)
- Charging: 118 kW DC, 10-80% in 29 min (42.2 kWh) or 30 min (61.0 kWh); 11 kW AC, 10-100% in 4 h 5 min or 5 h 35 min
- Space: 362 L boot (1,160 L folded), 403 L in the four-seat sliding-bench layout, 15 L frunk from Earth
- The catch: 9.5 s to 100 km/h with the 61 kWh pack, and a 22 kW AC charger needs the €1,390 Winter-Connect pack first
Performance & Specs
The smaller battery gives the quicker car. One permanent-magnet motor drives the front wheels in both versions: 107.8 kW (146 PS / 144 hp) with 42.2 kWh reaches 100 km/h in 8.7 seconds (8.9 with 18-inch wheels), while 99.5 kW (135 PS / 133 hp) with 61.0 kWh needs 9.5 seconds (9.7 with 19-inch wheels). Torque is 250 Nm and top speed 161 km/h on every version.
Efficiency is the strong point: ADAC lists 14.9 kWh/100 km WLTP for the 61 kWh Air on 16-inch wheels, and the drag coefficient is 0.29.

Charging & Battery
Both batteries charge at up to 118 kW DC on a 400 V system, but Kia says a charger rated at 150 kW or more is needed to reach that peak. On a 50 kW public charger the 10-80 percent stop takes 42 minutes (42.2 kWh) or 70 minutes (61.0 kWh). AC charging is 11 kW three-phase as standard, and the 22 kW onboard charger costs €990 in Germany and requires the €1,390 Winter-Connect pack first, which also adds V2L and a heat pump. Kia Germany gives the high-voltage battery an eight-year warranty.

Design & Interior
The EV2 is boxy and upright, with vertical "Star Map" daytime running lights, flush door handles and ten exterior colours in Germany. The Earth adds heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, the GT-Line brings 19-inch alloys, leatherette seats and auto-extending handles, and the Black-Line has a black emblem, black mirrors and an optional black roof.
Technology & Features
Every trim has a 12.3-inch driver display, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen and a 5.3-inch climate screen. Trims up to the GT-Line run the simpler ccNC Lite with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the full ccNC system with charging-stop routing is an option or pack item below the Black-Line, where it is standard. Even the €26,600 Light has LED headlights, automatic climate control, a reversing camera and parking sensors, and Kia Germany includes seven years of Kia Connect Standard with over-the-air updates.
Safety & ADAS
Euro NCAP rated the EV2 five stars on 12 October 2026 (Safe Driving 74 percent, Crash Avoidance 66 percent, Crash Protection 86 percent, Post-Crash Safety 89 percent), testing the Long Range variant. Every trim has seven airbags, FCA 2.0, lane following, blind-spot avoidance and Smart Cruise Control 2.0 with Stop & Go. In the UK, Kia's on-the-road prices are £27,995 (~$37,200) for the Air 61 kWh, £28,495 (~$37,900) for the First Edition 42.2 kWh, £32,745 (~$43,500) for the GT-Line and £36,345 (~$48,300) for the GT-Line S. The Electric Car Grant (£3,750 on the 61 kWh trims, £1,500 on the First Edition) is applied at the point of sale and brings them to £24,245 (~$32,200), £26,995 (~$35,900), £28,995 (~$38,500) and £32,595 (~$43,300). How It Compares
The EV2 matches the 52 kWh Volkswagen ID.Polo on price and range but not on power. The ID.Polo costs €305 more and offers 454 km against 453 km, with 155 kW (211 PS / 208 hp) against the Kia's 133 hp, while the EV2 is a crossover where the ID.Polo is a hatchback. The Leapmotor B03X Design costs €4,090 less and has 194 hp, but its 53.0 kWh battery gives 382 km, 71 km short of the Kia.
- Up to 453 km WLTP and 10-80% DC charging in 30 minutes from a 4.06 m car, with the 61 kWh Air at €33,490
- Five-star Euro NCAP rating, seven airbags and adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go on every trim
- 362 L boot (403 L in the sliding four-seater), a 15 L frunk from Earth and 750 kg towing
- Slow with the large battery: 99.5 kW (133 hp) and 9.5 s to 100 km/h, behind the 8.7 s 42.2 kWh car and the 208 hp ID.Polo
- Equipment is split into stacked option packs in Germany, and the cheapest Light has four seats and no battery preheating
The EV2 is a compact, safe, efficient city crossover with 453 km of WLTP range on the larger battery. Buy the Air 61 kWh at €33,490 (~$37,300) if you want range for longer trips, or the Air 42.2 kWh at €28,990 (~$32,300) if you mostly commute; skip it if you want performance, because the ID.Polo has 208 hp for almost the same money.
