The 2026 ZEEKR 8X is Geely's new large flagship hybrid SUV. It launched in China on 17 April 2026 as a five-seater with an optional six-seat layout, and its official list prices run from CNY 356,800 (~$53,522) for the Max trim to CNY 500,800 (~$75,123) for the tri-motor Yaoying. The CNY 27,000 (~$4,050) launch offer that briefly cut the entry price to CNY 329,800 (~$49,472) only applied to firm orders placed before 31 May 2026, so the list price is the number to plan around today. The 8X sits on a 900-volt platform and pairs a 2.0-litre turbo engine rated at 205 kW (279 PS / 275 hp) with electric motors, a 55.1 kWh or 70 kWh battery and up to 1,416 km of CLTC combined range. The standard dual-motor cars make 660 kW (897 PS / 885 hp) and reach 100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, while the Yaoying's three motors lift system output to 1,030 kW (1,400 PS / 1,381 hp) and the sprint to 2.96 seconds. ZEEKR says the car passed 10,000 firm orders in under half an hour, with Ultra trims and above making up 95.6 percent of them. The car in our walkaround is a six-seat Black Edition filmed at a Chinese showroom and published on 24 October 2026.
Performance & Specs
ZEEKR calls the 8X a super hybrid. A 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine from Geely's Aurora Bay unit (205 kW, 279 PS / 275 hp) works with a 145 kW generator motor, which Chinese outlets report, and electric motors drive both axles. The Max, Ultra and Ultra+ trims use a dual-motor all-wheel-drive layout rated at 660 kW (897 PS / 885 hp), split between a 290 kW (394 PS / 389 hp) front motor and a 370 kW (503 PS / 496 hp) rear motor. That setup is quoted at 935 Nm and a 3.7-second 0-100 km/h time. The Yaoying adds a third motor for 1,030 kW (1,400 PS / 1,381 hp), 1,410 Nm and a 2.96-second sprint, and launch coverage also cites 12.17 seconds from 0 to 200 km/h without naming the version. Launch reports quote a top speed of 220 km/h for the dual-motor cars, and the reviewer in our video and the MIIT filing point to 230 km/h for the tri-motor Yaoying. The MIIT filing gives a kerb weight range of 2,690 to 2,820 kg. The chassis combines closed dual-chamber air suspension, dual-valve CDC dampers and, on the Ultra+ and Yaoying according to Chinese trim comparisons, a 48-volt active anti-roll bar that ZEEKR says keeps body roll under two degrees in an 80 km/h corner.

At 5.1 metres long on a 3.07-metre wheelbase, the 8X is a large three-row SUV; the Yaoying is slightly bigger at 5,108 by 2,026 by 1,780 mm. Five seats are standard and a six-seat layout is a reported CNY 10,000 (~$1,500) option. Our video car is the six-seater, with individual second-row seats, a roof-mounted rear screen, a fridge between the seats, fold-out trays and a third row with its own seat controls, cup holders and USB ports. The reviewer is taller than 186 cm and had to slide the second row forward to make enough room, but still called the third row not bad for a six-seat luxury SUV. Boot space is 1,133 litres with all rows up and up to 2,200 litres with the rear seats folded. The showroom car rides on 22-inch wheels with 275/40 R22 Michelin tyres and orange brake calipers, and wheel sizes range from 20 to 22 inches depending on trim.

Charging & Battery
The 8X is built on a 900-volt architecture with 6C charging. Autohome lists a peak charging power of up to 425 kW and ZEEKR claims 20 to 80 percent in about nine minutes at room temperature. In Autohome's own test on a 120 kW charger, the 70 kWh Ultra+ took about 40 minutes to take on 70.7 kWh, a reminder that the nine-minute claim needs a very powerful station. The same test returned 412.4 km of economy-mode range against the 410 km CLTC rating. The 55.1 kWh pack, standard on the Max and Ultra, is rated at about 320 km of CLTC electric range (some listings give 318 km for the Ultra) and 1,362 km combined. The 70 kWh pack, standard on the Ultra+ and Yaoying, lifts those figures to 410 km and 1,416 km, and Chinese listings show it as a roughly CNY 15,000 (~$2,250) option on the Max and Ultra at launch. The Yaoying lists 330 km of electric range. With the battery depleted, the WLTC fuel consumption is 6.43 to 6.49 L/100 km, which matches the 6.4 L/100 km the reviewer quotes. The car can also power outside loads at up to 6.6 kW.
| BATTERY | 55.1 kWh (Max, Ultra) / 70 kWh (Ultra+, Yaoying) |
|---|---|
| ARCHITECTURE | 900V |
| DC FAST CHARGING | Up to 425 kW (6C, 70 kWh pack) |
| DC 20-80% TIME | About 9 min (ZEEKR claim) |
| EXTERNAL DISCHARGE | Up to 6.6 kW |

Design & Interior
The 8X has a tall, upright body with a broad vertical-slat grille, slim full-width LED headlights with cyan daytime running lights, a roof-mounted sensor pod above the windscreen and a continuous light bar across the tailgate above an illuminated ZEEKR script. The black car in our video has black wheels and orange calipers, and its doors, tailgate and side steps are all power-operated. It can be unlocked with an NFC card key. Inside, the dashboard and doors are trimmed in black leather and soft-touch material, with pink and red ambient lighting running along the door panels and around backlit speaker grilles. The steering wheel carries ZEEKR's new logo, and a panoramic glass roof with a sunshade lets in light but does not open, unlike on the bigger 9X. Every seat, including the third row, can be adjusted from switches on the door panels or trim beside it, and the rear passengers get a tray on each side, a fridge, USB ports and a wireless charger.
Technology & Features
The driver faces an instrument cluster with navigation, a wide central touchscreen and a second screen in front of the passenger, plus a head-up display. The interface can be switched to English, and ZEEKR's AI assistant Eva takes voice commands, which the reviewer says can also be used for the rear controls. His list of what is fitted includes automatic driving, automatic parking assist, electric doors, the NFC card key and the head-up display, and he says nothing is missing from the car. Two wireless phone chargers and cup holders sit in the centre console, and the armrest box has two USB ports.
Safety & ADAS
The 8X uses ZEEKR's Qianli Haohan G-ASD driver-assist system, which Autohome calls version 4.0 and which includes a vision-language-action model that runs on the car. The standard hardware uses a single Nvidia Drive Thor-U chip and a long-range LiDAR, while the Yaoying uses two Thor-U chips with 1,400 TOPS of computing power, 43 sensors and five LiDARs. The showroom car has 360-degree cameras and parking sensors around the body, and a green light on the roof pod that the reviewer links to the driver-assist system.
| ADAS LEVEL | L2+ (highway and city navigation assist, automated parking depending on configuration) |
|---|---|
| ADAS HARDWARE | H7: one Nvidia Thor-U chip and LiDAR / H9 (Yaoying): two Thor-U chips, five LiDARs, 43 sensors |

Pricing & Availability
The 8X went on sale in China on 17 April 2026 with four trims, and the official list prices are CNY 356,800 (~$53,522) for the Max, CNY 376,800 (~$56,522) for the Ultra, CNY 426,800 (~$64,023) for the Ultra+ and CNY 500,800 (~$75,123) for the Yaoying, at the ECB rate of 6.6664. Firm orders placed before 31 May 2026 qualified for a CNY 27,000 (~$4,050) launch offer, which gave launch prices of CNY 329,800 (~$49,472), CNY 349,800 (~$52,472), CNY 399,800 (~$59,972) and CNY 473,800 (~$71,073). That offer has ended. Chinese car-platform posts in July and September advertised fresh purchase incentives, including up to CNY 33,000 (~$4,950) in cash or CNY 18,000 (~$2,700) plus five-year zero-interest financing, but these are promotional, vary by city and are not official list prices. Export dealers quote their own dollar figures, and the Black Edition six-seater in our video is quoted at about $61,000 in the reviewer's dealer channel, which is not an official price. Outside China, ZEEKR has said the 8X will follow the 9X overseas from late 2026, and ZEEKR Australia says the 8X is due there in the second half of 2027, but no market list or overseas price has been confirmed.
How It Compares
The closest match in our catalog is the Denza N9. The 8X Max starts about $4,950 below the N9's CNY 389,800 (~$58,472) and makes 885 hp against the N9's 912 hp, with 1,362 km of combined range against the N9's 1,330 km. The Aito M9 six-seat EREV starts at CNY 489,800 (~$73,473), so the 8X Max undercuts it by about $20,000, with 1,362 km of combined range against the M9's 1,345 km. ZEEKR's own 9X sits above the 8X in the range at $69,540 and 1,250 km, which means the 8X Max matches its 885 hp for about $16,000 less and adds 112 km of combined range. The Yaoying is the only trim that moves into 9X money, at ~$75,123 for 1,381 hp. Rival prices are converted from CNY at the same 6.6664 rate; check local pricing before you compare.
- 900V platform with a 425 kW peak and a claimed 20-80% charge in about nine minutes
- 885 hp dual-motor all-wheel drive as standard, up to 1,381 hp on the tri-motor Yaoying
- Up to 410 km of electric range and 1,416 km combined from a 5.1 m, five or six-seat SUV
- The CNY 329,800 (~$49,472) launch price ended on 31 May, and the Ultra+ and Yaoying climb to ~$64,023 and ~$75,123
- No confirmed overseas launch dates or prices yet
- Heavy at up to 2,820 kg, and the six-seat layout is a paid option
The ZEEKR 8X is a very quick, very fast-charging three-row hybrid that undercuts the AITO M9 and the ZEEKR 9X on price while offering comparable range. The Max is the sensible entry point at ~$53,522 and the 70 kWh battery (standard on the Ultra+, a reported option on the Max and Ultra) is the one to pick if you want 410 km of electric range, while the Yaoying is for buyers who want 1,381 hp. The trade-offs are weight, an ended launch offer and the lack of any confirmed overseas price, so check the current dealer incentives before you decide. It is easy to recommend for buyers in China and a car to watch for export.
