Hongqi, the premium brand of China's FAW Group, sells two large electric cars outside China on the same platform: the EH7, a 4,980 mm five-seat sedan, and the EHS7, a 4,925 mm SUV. Both have a 3,000 mm wheelbase, a choice of 85 kWh or 111 kWh batteries, a single rear motor or a dual-motor all-wheel-drive Performance version with 455 kW, and a 250 kW peak DC charging rate. Hongqi opened European orders at the Paris Motor Show on 14 October 2024 with launch prices of EUR 49,999 for the EH7 and EUR 53,999 for the EHS7, and the Israeli importer Samelet began selling both on 26 January 2025. The EH7 is a large sedan in the class of the BMW i5 and Audi A6 e-tron, but the cars are still sold through a small network, and Hongqi ended its partnership with its German importer Hedin Automotive in April 2026.
Performance & Specs
The entry versions of both cars, the Core and the Long Range, use one electric motor on the rear axle. Hongqi's European material quotes 253 kW and 344 PS for it, which is about 339 imperial hp; the Israeli importer prints 340 hp. The EV Database lists 450 Nm of torque for the rear-drive cars. The Core pairs that motor with the 85 kWh battery, and the Long Range with the 111 kWh battery. The importer's data sheet gives 0-100 km/h in 6.2 seconds for the EH7 Core and 5.8 seconds for the EH7 Long Range, and 6.5 and 6.3 seconds for the two EHS7 versions. The EV Database lists a top speed of 190 km/h for the rear-drive EH7 and 200 km/h for the EHS7.
The Performance adds a 202 kW motor at the front axle, for a combined 455 kW. That is 619 PS, or about 610 hp: the Israeli importer prints 610, and Hongqi's Paris Motor Show release quotes up to 455 kW and 756 Nm. Hongqi claims 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds for the EH7 Performance and 3.9 seconds for the EHS7 Performance, and says the motors spin up to 22,500 rpm. The EHS7 also has rear-wheel steering according to Hongqi, and the Icelandic importer lists four-wheel steering and air suspension on the top Exclusive trim. Hongqi's own pages describe an IDCS adaptive damping system on both cars that adjusts to the road surface.

Both cars ride on a 3.0-metre wheelbase, which Hongqi highlights for rear-seat legroom. The EH7 is the longer and lower of the two, a 1,490 mm-tall sedan in the BMW i5 and Audi A6 class, while the EHS7 is a 1,680 mm-tall SUV that is 55 mm shorter and 35 mm wider. The Auto.co.il price page lists 400 litres of boot space and a 48 litre front trunk for the EH7, while the EV Database gives 420 litres, extending to 1,263 litres with the seats folded. The EHS7 has a 643 litre boot, which the EV Database says grows to 1,709 litres, plus a 62 litre front trunk; the Czech configurator lists the same 643 litres. The EV Database gives a braked towing limit of 1,000 kg for the EH7 and 1,500 kg for the EHS7. Five seats are standard on both.

Charging & Battery
The EH7 and EHS7 offer an 85 kWh battery on the Core and a 111 kWh battery on the Long Range and Performance. The importers quote 111 kWh, which the EV Database lists as the nominal capacity, with 103.5 kWh usable. The Israeli importer rates DC charging at up to 250 kW. Hongqi's press material claims 10-80% in about 20 minutes, while the Israeli importer's FAQ, the EV Database and the Czech configurator quote about 25 minutes for the 111 kWh pack, with an EV Database average rate of 180 kW across that window. AC charging is 11 kW, which the Icelandic importer says takes the EHS7 from empty to full in about 9 hours.
The range figures differ by version. Samelet's WLTP numbers for the EH7 are 510 km (Core), 655 km (Long Range) and 640 km (Performance), and for the EHS7 475 km, 600 km and 540 km. The Slovenian importer prints the same 640 km (EH7) and 540 km (EHS7) for the dual-motor cars, and the Icelandic importer 540 km for the EHS7. The Czech configurator lists slightly different EHS7 figures (470 km for the 85 kWh rear-drive car and 530 km for the 111 kWh all-wheel-drive car), so the exact rating depends on wheel size and market. Hongqi does not publish the pack voltage in the sources we found, and sources conflict: the EV Database lists a 400-volt architecture, while some road-test coverage mentions 800 volts, so treat the pack voltage as unconfirmed.
| BATTERY | 85 kWh or 111 kWh gross (111 kWh: 103.5 kWh usable per the EV Database) |
|---|---|
| AC CHARGING | 11 kW |
| DC FAST CHARGING | Up to 250 kW |
| DC 10-80% TIME | About 20 min (Hongqi claim); about 25 min for the 111 kWh pack (importer FAQ, EV Database) |
Design & Interior
Hongqi's design strategy is led by Giles Taylor, a former Rolls-Royce design director who joined FAW in 2018 and works from Munich. The EH7 is a fastback-style sedan with a thin red tail-light bar and a red accent line running up the bonnet. The EHS7 carries the same lighting signature on a taller, squarer body, and in some markets rides on 21-inch wheels with 255/45 front and 275/40 rear tyres, compared with 19-inch wheels in Israel. The importers list a panoramic glass roof on both cars.
Inside, Hongqi describes hand-stitched Nappa leather seats and a dual-screen layout, with a 15.5-inch central touchscreen and a smaller digital instrument display. The Icelandic list for the EHS7 adds heated and ventilated front seats, front-seat massage, a heated steering wheel and a wireless phone charger. The Israeli importer's EHS7 page lists Nappa-and-Alcantara leather upholstery, and both Israeli pages mention a large augmented-reality head-up display. Hongqi's own pages quote a 63-inch augmented-reality head-up display, which is a projected image size and not a physical screen.
Technology & Features
The infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto according to the Israeli importer, and the Icelandic specification lists over-the-air updates, a heat pump, voice control and a 19-speaker audio system on the EHS7 Premium. The EV Database also lists vehicle-to-load support, which lets the car power external devices.
Safety & ADAS
Hongqi markets the EH7 and EHS7 with a level 2 advanced driver-assistance system, and the Israeli importer states the system is a driver aid and not a self-driving function. The Icelandic equipment list for the EHS7 includes autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot warning, hill-start assist and a 360-degree camera, along with an eCall system and ISOFIX fittings. Euro NCAP published its 2025 results for the EHS7: the EV Database records 93% for adult occupants, 85% for child occupants, 82% for vulnerable road users and 83% for safety assist for the Long Range five-seater. Hongqi announced in October 2025 that both the EH7 and the EHS7 earned five stars, but we only found the EHS7 percentages in a database, so treat the EH7 result as reported by the manufacturer.

Pricing & Availability
In Israel the importer Samelet, which sells Hongqi, launched the EH7 and EHS7 on 26 January 2025, and Israeli price lists and launch coverage (Auto.co.il, Queen of the Road, Carzone and Cartube) show these list prices: the EH7 at NIS 199,900 (Core), NIS 229,900 (Long Range) and NIS 269,900 (Performance), and the EHS7 at NIS 229,900, NIS 259,900 and NIS 289,900. The entry price applies to the Core in white without options and excludes the licensing fee; the importer's own pages headline "from NIS 199,000" on the sedan page and "from NIS 229,900" on the SUV page. The warranty is five years or 150,000 km on the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km on the battery, and Samelet sells through showrooms in Herzliya, Haifa, Nof HaGalil, Rishon LeZion, Jerusalem and Beersheba.
In Europe Hongqi announced EUR 49,999 for the EH7 and EUR 53,999 for the EHS7 when orders opened at the Paris Motor Show in October 2024. Undated Dutch recommended prices, as recorded by the EV Database, are EUR 58,995 for the EH7 111 kWh Long Range, EUR 54,995 for the EHS7 111 kWh Long Range and EUR 74,995 for the EHS7 111 kWh AWD Pro, so the launch figures should be read as starting prices and not as the cost of the longer-range cars. We could not confirm the Dutch prices on an importer price list, and the EV Database now marks both Dutch listings as no longer for sale, and the EHS7 Long Range listing below the EH7 Long Range is as the EV Database records it. The Icelandic importer BL lists the EHS7 Premium at ISK 8,490,000 and the Exclusive at ISK 8,990,000, both with 619 PS. Hongqi took over German distribution itself in April 2026 and we found no official German price list; a UK launch was announced in 2024, but we found no 2026 launch date or UK price. Availability elsewhere is not confirmed as of October 2026.
How It Compares
Against the sedans, the EH7 Performance's 610 hp is more than the BMW i5's 593 hp at the top of its range and the Audi A6 e-tron's 543 hp with launch control, and its 3.5 second 0-100 km/h claim is quick for a large electric sedan. It gives up range to the Audi, which reaches up to 777 km WLTP, and its 655 km best case is only slightly better than the i5's 627 km. The price comparison needs care: the EH7's EUR 49,999 is a starting price from the October 2024 launch, the Dutch list price of the Long Range is EUR 58,995, and the German rivals are listed from EUR 62,800 and EUR 70,900 for German-market cars with different equipment.
Against the SUVs, the EHS7 Performance has 610 hp compared with up to 483 hp for the Audi Q6 e-tron, but its 540 km WLTP is shorter than the Q6's 679 km, and the Q6 is listed from EUR 63,500 in Germany while the EHS7 has no German list price. Hongqi's argument is power and equipment for the money, as well as a 3,000 mm wheelbase, but its disadvantages are an unproven service network and a 250 kW charging peak that is below the 270 kW of the Q6.
- 455 kW (610 hp) dual-motor Performance versions with 0-100 km/h in 3.5 s (EH7) and 3.9 s (EHS7)
- Up to 655 km WLTP in the EH7 Long Range and 600 km in the EHS7 Long Range from a 111 kWh battery
- Starting prices of NIS 199,900 in Israel and EUR 49,999 at the European launch, with 250 kW DC charging
- Dual-motor versions give up range (640 km EH7, 540 km EHS7) and the EHS7 Performance costs NIS 60,000 more than its Core in Israel
- Hongqi ended its partnership with its German importer Hedin Automotive after about two years, with electrive reporting that the models had not gained the traction Hongqi wanted, and Hongqi now sells directly with no published German price
The EH7 and EHS7 give buyers a large, well-equipped electric sedan and SUV with 3.0-metre wheelbases, up to 655 km WLTP and 610 hp, with European launch prices below the German list prices of its rivals. The rear-drive Long Range versions are the sensible choice, with the best range and a power output that is enough for most buyers. The trade-offs are an uncertain European distribution network, price lists that differ by country and a 250 kW charging peak that is behind the newest German rivals. They are worth a test drive where an importer is established, such as Israel, and a careful look at warranty and servicing elsewhere.
