The iCAR V25 is the third model in the V series from Chery's iCAR sub-brand, sold abroad as the iCAUR V25, and it slots between the compact V23 and the larger V27. It is a five-seat, square-bodied SUV that Chery describes as a tech-and-style light flagship, and it uses a range-extender (EREV) powertrain: a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine that only generates electricity, feeding a 33.67 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery and the electric motors. The all-wheel-drive version is reported at 335 kW (455 PS, about 449 hp), and Chery's figures quoted by Chinese outlets promise more than 1,200 km of total range with 210 km of pure-electric range on the CLTC cycle. The car was shown at a brand event in Chengdu on 14 August 2026 and at the Chengdu Auto Show from 21 August, and Chery's schedule calls for a market launch in November 2026. No price has been announced yet, so this article gives the confirmed specification and says plainly where the numbers are still missing.
Performance & Specs
The V25 is an extended-range electric vehicle, so the wheels are driven by electric motors only. The petrol engine is Chery's SQRH4J15, a 1.5-litre turbo four listed in the Chinese type-approval filing (MIIT) at 115 kW rated and 105 kW maximum net output, which is about 154 hp and 141 hp. It is not connected to the wheels and acts as a generator, charging the battery or powering the motors when the pack runs low. Chinese filings put the official WLTC fuel consumption of the plug-in system at 1.52 to 1.54 L/100 km, while consumption with a depleted battery is 6.9 to 7.15 L/100 km depending on the version.
The all-wheel-drive car has one motor on each axle and a reported combined output of 335 kW, which Chinese outlets state as 455 PS; Autohome's relay of Chery's launch release confirms the 455 PS figure. Because 1 PS is about 0.986 hp, that converts to roughly 449 hp, and the figure should not be read as 455 hp in the imperial sense. The reported peak torque is 505 Nm and the reported 0-100 km/h time is 5.9 seconds, both from a single Chinese hands-on article. These numbers match the all-wheel-drive iCAR V27 for power and torque, although the V27 is quoted at 5.5 seconds, so they may be carried over from the sibling model and should be treated as reported until Chery's data sheet appears. The rear-drive entry version has a single motor, and its output has not been published. The MIIT filing lists a top speed of 180 km/h and kerb weights of 2,221 kg and 2,240 kg, the higher figure applying when the optional towing device is fitted.

At 4,636 mm long, 1,920 mm wide and 1,855 mm tall on a 2,820 mm wheelbase, the V25 is about 270 mm shorter and 90 mm shorter in wheelbase than the 4,909 mm iCAR V27, which makes it the more manageable of the two boxy models for city use while still seating five. The length figure includes the external storage box on the tailgate, which Chery calls a small backpack and which holds 22.7 L. The tailgate itself is side-hinged and opens to 88 degrees. One Chinese article reports 378 L of boot space and 998 L with the rear seats folded flat, along with 41 storage compartments in the cabin, but these figures come from a single hands-on report and have not been repeated in a Chery data sheet.
Off-road geometry is part of the pitch. The MIIT filing lists 28 degree approach and 24 degree departure angles without the towing device, and 15 degrees at the rear with it fitted, while Chery's show material quotes 30 and 28 degrees; minimum ground clearance is 197 mm. The optional towing device allows a braked trailer of up to 1,800 kg. The filing also lists 255/55 R19 and 265/45 R21 tyres, and the showroom car in the video wears the 21-inch version on black six-spoke wheels with side steps. The suspension is a MacPherson strut at the front and a five-link rear axle.

Charging & Battery
The battery is a 33.67 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack, and the MIIT filing names Gotion (Hefei Guoxuan) as the cell maker with the pack assembled by Anhui Ruilu Technology. Chery has not said whether 33.67 kWh is the gross or the usable capacity, so the figure is shown as filed. The CLTC electric range of 210 km for the rear-drive car and a reported 200 km for the all-wheel-drive version works out to about 16.0 and 16.8 kWh per 100 km at the battery, which is a plausible figure for a 2.2-tonne boxy SUV and consistent with the lower WLTC numbers of 150 and 145 km in the filing. One Chinese hands-on report states that the pack charges from 30 to 80 percent in 15 minutes on DC, but Chery has not yet published a peak DC power, an AC charging rate or an official 10-80 percent time.
The range extender is what makes the long-distance claim possible. Chery's figure of more than 1,200 km of total range combines the battery with a full tank of petrol, and one hands-on report quotes as much as 1,240 km, so the exact value will depend on the version and on the data sheet that appears at launch. The sources do not print the test cycle for the combined figure, but Chery quotes CLTC for the V27's 1,230 km and Chinese outlets quote CLTC for the V25's electric range, so CLTC is the likely basis. In the video, the reviewer points out the fuel filler and the charging port on the car's right-hand side and notes the 33 kWh pack and the 1.5-litre turbo engine.

Design & Interior
The styling follows the V series: upright flat panels, round LED headlights, squared-off wheel arches, black plastic cladding and an external storage box on the rear door in place of a spare wheel. The rear quarter windows are blanked off, which gives the body a solid, van-like side profile, and the side steps and 88 degree opening tailgate add to the utilitarian look. The car in the video is finished in a matt grey, and Chery lists five colours in total: white, black, silver, green and matt grey. The reviewer compares the shape to a scaled-down Mercedes G-Class on camera, saying a driver might mistake the V25 for the G-Class's younger brother.
The interior of the showroom car is trimmed in tan leather over a dark dashboard with a narrow, horizontal layout, a round steering wheel with button clusters, a digital instrument cluster behind it and a large landscape touchscreen in the centre. According to the reviewer, the car has a wireless phone charger, two cup holders and a storage box in the armrest, and the gear selection uses fixed steering-column paddles. The test unit has no panoramic glass roof or sunshade, which the reviewer reads as a sign that it is the base specification. The front seats are heated, ventilated and massaging according to a Chinese hands-on report, which also lists a 15-speaker, 1,260 W audio system; neither has been confirmed by Chery in a spec sheet. The rear bench has a centre armrest with cup holders, and the reviewer says there is enough space in the back.
Technology & Features
Driver assistance is Chery's Super Falcon 700+ system, built on the Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chip with 560 TOPS, according to the car's reveal material. It supports highway navigation on autopilot, urban navigation, and automated parking, and the camera cluster is integrated into a raised unit on the front fender along with the NFC key area and the turn indicators. LiDAR is optional, as the MIIT filing lists it, and Chery has not said which versions will offer it. Some Chinese reports describe a one-stage end-to-end driving model, a claim that will need to be tested once the car is in customers' hands.
The infotainment runs on a large touchscreen whose layout can be seen in the video, with shortcut menus for drive modes, vehicle settings and the camera views. The reviewer notes that the car on the showroom floor has no English language option yet, and says that an exporter can change the language to English, but that the V25 cannot be exported until it is officially launched. Chinese reports also state that the V25 has more than 20 so-called ecosystem modification interfaces for accessories, though what these include has not been detailed.
Safety & ADAS
Safety equipment lists have not been published, and no crash-test result exists yet because the car is not on sale. What is known is the sensor and compute package: the Super Falcon 700+ system, a 560 TOPS Journey 6P chip, optional LiDAR and automated parking, with the body-structure and airbag details to be confirmed at launch. Navigation functions of this kind are driver-supervised, which corresponds to an L2+ level.

Pricing & Availability
Chery has not announced a price for the V25. The car passed through the MIIT type-approval listing in July 2026, was revealed at a brand event in Chengdu on 14 August and was shown at the Chengdu Auto Show on 21 August, where Chery said it would go on sale in November. A Chinese report quoting the same schedule states that cars would arrive at dealers in late September, with test drives starting in October and the official launch in November, and the car in this article's video is a dealership unit. Chery's launch material, as relayed by Autohome, calls it a CNY 150,000-class SUV, which is a segment label and not a price list, so the figure should not be treated as an official price.
No official price exists: the reviewer says on camera that it has not been announced, and that the price will decide how the car is received. For context, the larger V27 starts at CNY 169,800 (about $25,300 at CNY 6.7048 per dollar) in China. Export under the iCAUR name is plausible, because the brand sells the V27 abroad as the iCAUR V27, but no export markets, names or prices have been confirmed for the V25.
How It Compares
The closest comparison is the V25's own sibling. The iCAR V27 is bigger, with a 4,909 mm body, and it reportedly shares the 335 kW all-wheel-drive output while offering a larger battery in its long-range version, so the V25 competes mainly on size and, presumably, on price once Chery announces it. The Deepal G318 EREV is the other boxy range-extender in our catalogue, with 444 hp, 200 km of CLTC electric range and more than 1,000 km in total from a limited-time CNY 196,800 (guide price CNY 199,800; about $29,350), which sets the upper bound for what a buyer pays for a square EREV in this class. At the other end, the Geely Boyue REV costs about $17,000 and offers a longer total range of 1,525 km but with a conventional crossover shape and 215 hp, so it is a value contrast rather than a direct rival. The V25 will need to land between the V27 and the Boyue on price to make sense, and Chery has so far only hinted at the CNY 150,000 class.
- Reported 335 kW (449 hp) and 505 Nm in the AWD version, with a reported 5.9 second 0-100 km/h time in a boxy five-seater
- Over 1,200 km claimed total range and 210 km of CLTC electric range from a 33.67 kWh LFP pack
- Useful extras on paper: 1,800 kg towing, 6 kW vehicle-to-load output, an external storage box and a side-hinged tailgate
- No price, no data sheet and no named trims yet, and several figures (boot volume, charging time, seat features) come from a single hands-on report
- Heavy at 2,221 to 2,240 kg and with only 210 km of electric range, which is well short of the 300 km the V27 offers in its long-range version
The V25 gives iCAR a smaller, easier-to-park version of the V27 formula: the same reported 335 kW all-wheel-drive output, a claimed 1,200 km of total range, a Journey 6P driver-assistance package and the boxy off-road look that has made the V series talked about. The case for it depends entirely on the price, which Chery will reveal in November, and on whether the figures from the show hold up on the official data sheet. If it lands near the CNY 150,000 segment label, it should be a strong value choice among boxy range-extenders, but buyers should wait for the official price list before committing.
