The NIO EL6 is the export name of the second-generation NIO ES6, a five-seat mid-size electric SUV that went on sale in Europe in 2023 and in Israel in May 2024. It uses NIO's NT2.0 platform and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive powertrain with 360 kW (490 PS, about 483 hp), a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and up to 529 km of WLTP range from the 100 kWh battery. The cars sold in Europe are 2023 and 2024 builds, and EV reported in May 2026 that NIO told European owners no model updates will arrive before late 2027 (NIO Norway disputed the report), so the EL6 is now a stock-clearance story: Israel's importer Delek Motors lists it from NIS 299,000 (April 2026 price list), Denmark from DKK 389,900, and EV reported German stock cars from €57,950 in August 2026. NIO's last Netherlands list price, set in January 2026, was €67,900 for the 75 kWh car and €76,900 for the 100 kWh car. China, where the car is called ES6, received an updated 2026 model in April 2026 from CNY 338,000; that version is not what Europe or Israel are selling.
Performance & Specs
Every EL6 is a BEV with two motors: a 150 kW (204 PS) motor on the front axle and a 210 kW (286 PS) permanent-magnet motor on the rear axle, which together make 360 kW. NIO's Dutch price list prints this as 360 kW / 490 hp, but the 490 is metric horsepower (PS). One PS is 0.9863 hp, and 360 kW x 1.341 gives the same answer, so the system output is about 483 hp. Several Danish, Israeli and Nordic outlets print the car as "489 hp", which is the PS figure labelled with the wrong unit. Peak torque is 700 Nm, the 0-100 km/h time is 4.5 seconds (NIO quotes it in Sport+ mode) and top speed is 200 km/h.
The car has five basic drive modes (Eco, Comfort, Sport, Sport+ and Custom) and scenario modes for snow, sand and wet roads, plus a trailer mode when the optional electrically deployable tow bar is fitted. NIO lists a towing capacity of 1,200 kg with 75 kg of hook load and a 75 kg roof-rail limit. The chassis uses a five-link front and multi-link rear suspension with continuous damping control, a 50:50 axle load distribution and a body of ultra-high-strength steel and aluminium, with an integral-cast aluminium rear floor. Homologated kerb weight is 2,278 kg with the 75 kWh battery and 2,298 kg with the 100 kWh battery, and the drag coefficient is 0.25. NIO's Europe list gives a laden ground clearance of 165 mm and a turning circle of 12.2 metres.

Charging & Battery
NIO offers the EL6 with a 75 kWh Standard Range battery (WLTP up to 406 km) and a 100 kWh Long Range battery (up to 529 km). NIO's price list does not print usable capacities; EV Database lists about 73.5 kWh usable for the smaller pack and about 90 kWh for the larger one, which is an independent figure rather than a NIO number. Official WLTP consumption is 20.4 to 22.1 kWh/100 km, measured at the socket, which is why it sits above what 90 kWh divided by 529 km would suggest. The car uses a conventional 400-volt-class system, so charging speeds are modest next to newer 800-volt rivals. NIO states that each battery size is built in two versions with different peak charging power: the 75 kWh pack takes up to 140 or 170 kW (10-80% in 30 or 27 minutes), and the 100 kWh pack takes up to 125 or 180 kW (10-80% in 40 or 26 minutes). Which version a given car has also changes after a battery swap. AC charging is 11 kW, and NIO's list shows a 2.3 kW household cable and a 22 kW Mode 3 public cable.
The battery can also be rented. Under NIO's Battery-as-a-Service plan the Dutch consumer price of the car (January 2026 list) drops to €55,900 without a battery, plus a monthly fee of €169 (75 kWh) or €289 (100 kWh), with the battery's gross price set at €12,000 and €21,000. Swap stations let BaaS customers exchange the pack in a few minutes, but EV reported that management said no new swap stations in 2026 (NIO Norway announced a planned station in the Oslo West/Baerum area, statement of 11 June 2026, not yet confirmed as built). The warranty is five years or 150,000 km for the vehicle and eight years or 160,000 km for the battery.

Design & Interior
The EL6 has a low, smooth nose with a slim daytime-running-light strip above split headlights, flush door handles, soft-closing doors and a roof pod that houses the LiDAR. The rear carries a full-width light strip above a kick-activated power tailgate. Standard exterior equipment includes adaptive matrix LED headlights, auto-folding heated mirrors, privacy glass and a sunroof with a sunshade. The Dutch price list shows 20-inch wheels as standard and 21-inch wheels as options, with Deep Black, Star Gray, Cloud White and Stratosphere Blue paint at no cost and Galaxy Shadow as a paid option.
Inside, the cabin uses sustainable rattan decor, microfibre headliner and Haptex perforated artificial leather, with 14-way power front seats, memory and an easy-entry function as standard. A 256-colour ambient lighting system, three USB-C ports of 60 W, a 40 W wireless charging pad and a 4K dash camera are standard. The three interior themes in the price list are Warm Gravel, Onyx Black and Sepia Brown. The Premier subscription variant adds the 21-inch carbon-fibre wheels, the Full Comfort package with a lounge seat and NOMI Mate.
Technology & Features
The centrepiece is a 12.8-inch AMOLED central display with a 10.2-inch HDR digital cluster, an enhanced head-up display, a 6.6-inch touchscreen for the rear seats and NIO's NOMI voice assistant on top of the dashboard. A 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos sound system with 23 speakers and 1,000 W is standard, as are Wi-Fi 6, a digital key based on ultra-wideband, firmware over-the-air updates and NIO's own navigation. The software is a weak spot in Europe: according to an attendee account of a May 2026 owner event reported by the news site EV, European cars run an early version of the driver-assistance software, and updates are limited to one or two a year. NIO has not published that roadmap itself, so read it as a reported claim rather than a company statement.
Safety & ADAS
The EL6 received a five-star Euro NCAP rating, with 93% for adult occupants, 85% for child occupants, 78% for vulnerable road users and 76% for safety assist. Standard equipment includes seven airbags (front, front side, side curtain and a front centre airbag), automatic emergency braking, lane keeping assist, emergency lane keeping, blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, a 360-degree surround-view system, child presence detection and adaptive cruise control with lane centring. NIO's hardware, called Aquila, consists of the roof LiDAR, 11 cameras, five radars and 12 ultrasonic sensors, and the car is marketed as ready for NIO's driver-assistance features; the European specification differs from the Chinese one, so features should be checked against the local list.

Pricing & Availability
NIO Israel's price list of 1 April 2026 is the most recent official list we found (see below). The only European NIO list we could read in full is the Dutch one, dated January 2026: €67,900 for the 75 kWh car and €76,900 for the 100 kWh car, both including VAT, battery and delivery costs, or €55,900 for either car with the battery rented. NIO launched the EL6 in Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark and Norway in 2023 at €65,500 and €74,500 in Germany. Since then the picture has changed. The European Union charges Chinese-built NIOs a combined 30.7% duty (a 20.7% countervailing duty on top of the 10% standard tariff), Norway is outside it, and NIO is working through 2023 and 2024 stock. In August 2026 the news site EV found four EL6 configurations on NIO's German stock page at €57,950, €60,200, €60,950 and €61,000, offered as short-term registrations of up to 24 hours; and three EL6s on the Dutch page at €60,400 (twice, 75 kWh) and €61,650 (100 kWh), marked as available soon. The Swedish site listed no EL6 stock. ElektroQuatsch reported on 24 September 2026 that NIO is closing its Cologne hub and plans to close Weiterstadt next, leaving only Munich.
In Denmark, where NIO sells through the distributor Nic. Christiansen Gruppen, prices were cut in April 2026: the Standard Range fell by DKK 100,000 to DKK 389,900 and the Long Range by DKK 160,000 to DKK 429,900, according to NordiskBil and Mobilsiden; the reports do not say whether the prices include the battery. Norway still lists the car among selected stock models with campaign offers, but we could not verify a current Norwegian list price. In Israel, Delek Motors imports NIO. The EL6 launched in May 2024 from about NIS 400,000, the entry price fell from NIS 349,900 to NIS 299,000 in July 2025, and NIO Israel's price list of 1 April 2026 (nio.co.il/car-list) shows NIS 299,000 for the 75 kWh car, NIS 355,000 for the 100 kWh car and NIS 395,000 for the 100 kWh Comfort Pack, in line with iCar, auto.co.il and CarTube. NIO Israel quotes 523 km of WLTP range for the 100 kWh car (517 km for the Comfort Pack), against NIO's 529 km in Europe. NIO's Israeli model-year label is 2026, while the cars in Europe are 2023 and 2024 builds.
How It Compares
Both rivals' prices are German list prices for current models. On peak power the EL6 beats the BMW iX3 50 xDrive (463 hp) and matches the Mercedes GLC 400 4MATIC (483 hp, also 360 kW). It loses clearly on range, with 529 km WLTP against 715 to 805 km, and on charging, where its 180 kW peak compares with 400 kW for the iX3 50 xDrive and 330 kW for the GLC 400. On price the EL6 is cheaper at the German stock prices EV reported (€57,950-61,000), roughly €10,000 to €13,000 below these rivals, but at its January 2026 list price of €76,900 it was dearer than all three. The comparison is also one of age: the EL6 is a 2023-24 build, and EV reported that NIO told owners no update would come before late 2027 (NIO Norway disputed the report), while the rivals are new platforms.
- 360 kW (483 hp) dual-motor AWD with 700 Nm and a 4.5 s 0-100 km/h time, as much power as the Mercedes GLC 400 and more than the BMW iX3
- Well equipped as standard: roof LiDAR, heat pump, 23-speaker 1,000 W audio, head-up display, 14-way power seats and a five-star Euro NCAP rating
- Much cheaper than at launch: DKK 389,900 in Denmark, from €57,950 for German stock and NIS 299,000 in Israel
- Charging and range trail newer rivals: DC peak of 180 kW at best, 26 minutes for 10-80%, and 406 or 529 km WLTP
- 2023-24 build; EV reported that NIO told owners no update would come before late 2027 (NIO Norway disputed the report), that software updates are limited, and that management said no new swap stations in 2026 (NIO Norway announced a planned station in the Oslo West/Baerum area, statement of 11 June 2026, not yet confirmed as built)
The EL6 is a strong-driving, well-equipped mid-size electric SUV whose price has finally come down to match its age. With 483 hp, a LiDAR-equipped sensor suite and a rich standard specification, it is hard to fault at DKK 389,900 or about €58,000 for German stock, and the Israeli price of NIS 299,000 is far below where it started. The trade-offs are real: a 400-volt-class charging system, a 2023-24 platform for which EV reported no update before late 2027, and a shrinking dealer and swap network. It suits buyers who value power and equipment per euro and who can live with a brand whose European future is uncertain.
