The XPeng GX is the brand's first full-size flagship SUV, a 5.27-metre, six-seat 2+2+2 vehicle that went on sale in China on May 20, 2026 as both a pure-electric (BEV) model and a range-extender (EREV) model. Eight variants are offered, four of each, with official guide prices from CNY 279,800 (about $41,800 at CNY 6.70 per dollar) up to CNY 359,800 (about $53,700). The BEV comes with a 91.9 kWh LFP battery and rear-wheel drive for 665 km, or a 110 kWh NMC battery and dual-motor all-wheel drive with 430 kW (577 hp) for 750 km of CLTC range. The EREV pairs a 63.3 kWh LFP battery with a 1.5-litre range extender for 496 hp and 1,585 km combined. All versions use an 800V platform with 5C-class charging. At launch XPeng priced the GX below the CNY 399,800 (about $59,700) figure it announced in April, and it took 24,863 firm orders in the first 12 hours.

The pure-electric GX has two configurations. The three lower trims (Max, Ultra SE and Ultra) use a 91.9 kWh LFP battery and a single 270 kW (362 hp) rear motor for rear-wheel drive and 665 km of CLTC range. The Ultra Flagship uses a 110 kWh nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) battery and adds a 160 kW (215 hp) front motor, for 430 kW (577 hp) and all-wheel drive, and a 750 km CLTC range. XPeng rates the rear-drive versions at 465 Nm and 0-100 km/h in 6.97 seconds, and the Ultra Flagship at 695 Nm and 4.7 seconds.
The EREV is all-wheel drive on every trim. A 1.5-litre turbocharged engine acts only as a generator for a 63.3 kWh LFP battery, and a 160 kW front and 210 kW rear motor together make 370 kW (496 hp) and 695 Nm of torque. XPeng claims 0-100 km/h in 4.98 seconds for the EREV, 430 km of CLTC electric range and 1,585 km combined. Top speed is listed at 200 km/h.

Design & Interior
Media coverage has compared the GX's styling to a Range Rover, and XPeng lists AI digital projection headlights and 22-inch wheels on its product page. Inside, the driver gets a 12-way power Nappa leather seat, a zero-gravity front passenger seat is available, and the second and third rows can recline. The central touchscreen is 17.3 inches with 3K resolution, backed by an 8.8-inch instrument display, an 88-inch head-up display and a 21.4-inch 3K screen for rear passengers that is standard from the Ultra SE up and optional on the Max. XPeng also lists a built-in refrigerator on every trim, a 33-speaker audio system from the Ultra SE up, and AI-dimming privacy glass with a 0.16-second response time and 99.9% UV blocking on the Ultra Flagship.
Technology & Features
The GX is built on XPeng's SEPA 3.0 platform and uses the company's in-house Turing AI chips. Compute scales with the trim: one chip and 750 TOPS on the Max, two chips and 1,500 TOPS on the Ultra SE, and three chips and 2,250 TOPS on the Ultra and Ultra Flagship. A separate Robotaxi version with four chips and up to 3,000 TOPS is planned; it is not one of the trims on sale. The driver-assistance software is the second-generation VLA (Vision-Language-Action) model, in a Lite version on the Max.
Safety & ADAS
XPeng's configuration sheet lists no LiDAR, so the driver-assistance system is camera-led and still requires a supervising driver; XPeng's Level 4 plans apply to the Robotaxi version. XPeng lists up to 11 airbags and describes six-fold redundancy across steering, braking, power, drivetrain, communication and door locks. Brake-by-wire is fitted to every trim, with a claimed stopping distance of 34.4 m from 100 km/h.
| ADAS LEVEL | Camera-led, driver-supervised (Level 2), no LiDAR listed |
|---|---|
| ADAS FEATURES | VLA 2.0 driver assistance, brake-by-wire, rear-wheel steering, up to 11 airbags; front steer-by-wire on the Ultra Flagship only |
| ADAS COMPUTE | 1 to 3 Turing AI chips, 750-2,250 TOPS by trim |
Chassis & Driving Experience
All trims have intelligent dual-chamber air springs, a double-wishbone front and H-arm rear suspension layout, and hydraulic brake-by-wire. Rear-wheel steering, standard on every trim, brings the turning radius down to 5.4 m for a car that is 5.27 metres long. Front steer-by-wire, developed with Bosch, is listed only on the Ultra Flagship. Wheels are 21-inch with 265/45 R21 tyres as standard, and 22-inch wheels are available.

Pricing & Availability
XPeng launched the GX in China on May 20, 2026. The BEV lineup is priced at CNY 279,800 (Max), CNY 299,800 (Ultra SE), CNY 319,800 (Ultra) and CNY 359,800 (750 AWD Ultra Flagship), about $41,800, $44,700, $47,700 and $53,700 at CNY 6.70 per dollar. The EREV lineup runs from CNY 289,800 to CNY 359,800 (about $43,300 to $53,700). A limited-time CNY 10,000 benefit applied to orders placed by June 30, 2026, which brought the BEV Max to CNY 269,800 (about $40,300). The April pre-sale price of CNY 399,800 (about $59,700) covered both powertrains, so every launch trim came in below it.
Demand has been strong. XPeng took 24,863 firm orders in the first 12 hours, more than 80% of them for the Ultra Flagship trim according to CnEVPost, and the wait for the all-electric Ultra Flagship reached 35 weeks in June. Deliveries were 284 in May, 6,739 in June and 7,140 in July, and XPeng said cumulative deliveries reached 20,000 by the end of August. Outside China, the Middle East is the first export region: UAE listings show an official debut in September 2026 at AED 245,000 for the Ultra (about $66,700) and AED 299,000 for the Flagship (about $81,400), with UAE-spec cars rated at 310 km of electric range and 1,240 km combined. Australia is expected to follow later, without a confirmed date, and a European or North American launch had not been confirmed as of September 2026.
How It Compares
The closest price rival is the Onvo L90, a six- or seven-seat electric SUV that starts at CNY 265,800 including the battery, about $2,100 less than the GX BEV Max, with up to 605 km of CLTC range against the GX's 665 km. The NIO ES8, at CNY 406,800 and up, costs about $7,000 more than the GX BEV Ultra Flagship and has more power (697 hp against 577 hp) but less CLTC range (635 km against 750 km). The GX's distinguishing feature is that it is also sold with a range extender, giving buyers a 1,585 km option that neither of these two rivals offers. Rival prices are converted at CNY 6.70 per dollar and are launch prices for the entry trim of the six- and seven-seat versions.
- Choice of BEV (665-750 km) or EREV (1,585 km combined) in the same six-seat full-size body
- Every launch trim (CNY 279,800-359,800, about $41,800-$53,700) came in below the CNY 399,800 pre-sale price
- 800V platform with 5C charging: up to 525 km of BEV range added in 12 minutes on the 110 kWh version, per XPeng
- Driver assistance is camera-led with no LiDAR listed, and it still needs a supervising driver
- Front steer-by-wire is limited to the top trim, and no peak charging power in kW is published
The XPeng GX is a six-seat flagship SUV that starts at about $41,800 in China for the BEV Max and about $43,300 for the EREV Max, and climbs to about $53,700 for the top trims. The BEV covers up to 750 km of CLTC range with 577 hp, while the EREV offers 496 hp and 1,585 km combined, so the choice mostly depends on how easily an owner can charge at home. It suits families that want a large, well-equipped six-seater at a price well below the pre-sale figure, and can accept camera-led driver assistance. Buyers outside China should note that UAE pricing is far higher than in China and that no European launch has been confirmed.
