Volkswagen Anhui, the Chinese joint venture of Volkswagen and JAC, updated its two compact battery-electric (BEV) models, the ID. UNYX 07 fastback sedan and the ID. UNYX 06 coupe-SUV, on Saturday 17 October 2026, less than five months after the 07 went on sale in May. The update adds a 77.5 kWh battery option rated at up to 670 km on the CLTC cycle in the 07 and up to 630 km in the 06, plus a LiDAR version of the driver-assistance system built on Horizon Robotics' Journey 6H chip with urban navigation on autopilot (NOA). Guide prices start 20,000 yuan below the May launch guide prices, although the May limited-time prices were already CNY 109,900 for the 07 and CNY 134,900 for the 06: the 07 now runs from CNY 109,900 ($16,391) to CNY 149,900 ($22,357) and the 06 from CNY 129,900 ($19,374) to CNY 169,900 ($25,340), at the ECB rate of 6.7048 yuan per dollar. A limited Double 11 promotion takes the 07 Lite to CNY 99,900 ($14,900) and the 06 Lite to CNY 119,900 ($17,883), the first Volkswagen BEV in China priced under 100,000 yuan. Both cars are sold in China only, and the 670 km figure belongs to the top 07 Ultra trim, not to the cheapest car.

Performance & Specs

Volkswagen Anhui's October materials do not restate the powertrain, so the figures here combine the October reports with the May launch coverage. Both cars are single-motor, rear-wheel-drive BEVs. CnEVPost gives the ID. UNYX 07 a maximum motor output of 170 kW, which is 231 PS or about 228 hp (170 kW at 1.341 hp per kW), and its May launch report gave the 06 a 170 kW rear motor as well. Chinese outlets say the 06's peak torque has been raised from 310 Nm to 350 Nm, and Wikipedia lists 350 Nm and a 160 km/h top speed for the 07, a figure CarNewsChina also gives. Wikipedia also quotes 8.1 seconds for 0-100 km/h on the May-launch 07 with the 59.9 kWh battery; no official acceleration time has been published for the 77.5 kWh cars, so this article does not print one for them.

The 07 is the first Volkswagen BEV built on the China Electronic Architecture (CEA), a zonal electronic architecture developed together with Xpeng, according to CarNewsChina and electrive. The range now spans three battery sizes in the 07: the 77.5 kWh pack in the Ultra at 670 km CLTC, a smaller pack in the Lite and Pure SE Plus rated at 538 km, and the earlier 59.9 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack in the Pure at 558 km. Sources differ on the capacity of the 538 km pack: Sina and mydrivers give the Pure SE Plus 55.9 kWh, while a smzdm guide gives the Lite 59.9 kWh, so the Available Versions table prints 55.9 kWh for the SE Plus only and leaves the Lite's capacity blank.

The 07 is 4,853 mm long, 1,852 mm wide and 1,566 mm high on a 2,826 mm wheelbase, and CarNewsChina describes it as slightly larger than a Tesla Model 3. The 06 is 190 mm shorter at 4,663 mm, slightly wider at 1,860 mm and 51 mm taller at 1,617 mm, with a 2,766 mm wheelbase, so the sedan has 60 mm more wheelbase. Volkswagen Anhui's product pages give both cars a 4.7 m minimum turning radius and a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution. The 07's electric hatch opens onto 711 litres of boot space, or up to 1,580 litres with the rear seats folded, and the 06 offers 718 litres and up to 1,713 litres. Both cars have a panoramic glass roof with an electric sunshade, rated at 1.6 square metres on the 07 and 1.65 square metres on the 06.

Charging & Battery

The headline change is the 77.5 kWh pack. It gives the 07 Ultra 670 km on the CLTC cycle and the 06 up to 630 km, which works out at roughly 11.6 kWh per 100 km for the 07 and 12.3 kWh per 100 km for the 06, calculated from battery size and range rather than quoted by Volkswagen. Chinese outlets tie the 06's 630 km to the Ultra, and one outlet also calls the 06 Pro a big-battery version; the Pro's pack is not confirmed. CLTC is more generous than the WLTP cycle used in Europe, so these ranges should not be compared directly with European ratings. Volkswagen Anhui and the outlets read for this article do not name the cell supplier or chemistry of the 77.5 kWh pack.

Charging data for the update has not been published. For the earlier 59.9 kWh 07, Wikipedia and EV Look list a 30 to 80 percent DC charge in 25 minutes, and CarNewsChina's May report names Gotion as the cell supplier of that LFP pack; no 10 to 80 percent time, peak DC power or AC power has been published for any of the October versions. Volkswagen Anhui says its own network has more than 1,600 stations and 11,400 chargers and that a home wallbox can be installed within three days at best. Safety claims for the pack include 436 full-scenario safety tests, 1,300 J underbody impact resistance, a 5 ms high-voltage cut-off and thermal cycling from minus 40 to plus 40 degrees Celsius.

Design & Interior

The 07 is a fastback sedan that Chinese press calls a coupe-style sedan, with a closed front fascia, hidden door handles and full-width light strips at the front and rear. The 06 is a coupe-SUV with a closed front, semi-hidden door handles, a rear spoiler and integrated tail lights with a high-mounted brake light. The official 07 page names Dawn Gold among its exterior colours, and the 07 is offered with 19 or 20-inch wheels. The roof LiDAR sits in a low pod above the windscreen on the LiDAR versions and is visible in the official press images.

Inside, the dashboard carries a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, a 15-inch 2K central touchscreen and a 12-inch 2K passenger screen with an anti-peep function, plus an augmented-reality head-up display; CarNewsChina lists a 27-inch image for it. Seat options on the official pages are Midsummer Black eco-leather and microfibre and Snow White microfibre, with a Dawn Green option on the 07, and the 06's front seats have 12-way power adjustment with memory, heating, ventilation and massage. The interior has a 30-colour ambient lighting system and a 12-speaker UNYX SOUND audio system. Which of these items are standard on the Lite and Pure is not itemised in the launch reports, so buyers should check the dealer configuration list.

Technology & Features

The cockpit runs on a MediaTek MT8676 chip and VW OS 1.3, which now integrates the Doubao large model from Volcano Engine so that navigation, music and climate can be controlled by voice, with a four-zone voice interaction system and driver and occupant monitoring cameras. Four screens are linked, and the system supports Apple CarPlay and the Chinese Carlink and HiCar phone projection standards. IQ.Light matrix LED headlights have 13 individually controlled LEDs, up to 900 lumens and an adaptive high beam. Self-healing tyres are standard on both cars, and the 06 page lists a UWB and NFC digital key. The 07's chassis and electrical systems follow Volkswagen's in-China-for-China approach, using the Xpeng-developed CEA architecture.

Safety & ADAS

The new LiDAR versions pair one 192-line RoboSense LiDAR with the Horizon Journey 6H chip, which delivers 420 TOPS, and the HS8 one-stage end-to-end driving model trained on a world model called GAIA 2.0. Volkswagen Anhui describes city navigation assistance that covers parking space to parking space, U-turns at intersections, passing oncoming vehicles on narrow roads, recognising access gates and activating from standstill, plus cross-floor memory parking. elektroquatsch.de notes that the system is driver assistance and the driver stays responsible, and Chinese outlets describe it as enhanced L2. On the 07 the buyer chooses between a vision-only package, with six HD cameras, one millimetre-wave radar and 12 ultrasonic sensors and highway NOA, and a LiDAR package for the city NOA. The official Weibo trim labels give the LiDAR to the 07 Pure SE Plus and Ultra, and a Chinese buying guide says the 06's LiDAR is concentrated in the Ultra. Volkswagen Anhui's launch materials give no timing for city NOA activation (a China Daily report mentions the end of 2026), and no city list was published.

Pricing & Availability

The new guide prices are 20,000 yuan ($2,983) below the May 2026 launch guide prices of CNY 129,900 ($19,374) for the 07 and CNY 149,900 ($22,357) for the 06. The May limited-time prices were already CNY 109,900 ($16,391) for the 07 and CNY 134,900 ($20,120) for the 06, so the cut on the street is smaller: CNY 10,000 ($1,491) for the 07 Lite promotion and CNY 5,000 ($746) for the 06 list price. The 07 now has four trims from CNY 109,900 ($16,391) to CNY 149,900 ($22,357), and the 06 has three from CNY 129,900 ($19,374) to CNY 169,900 ($25,340). The Double 11 promotion applies only to the Lite trims: the 07 Lite drops to CNY 99,900 ($14,900) and the 06 Lite to CNY 119,900 ($17,883), a CNY 10,000 ($1,491) cash benefit. Chinese reports tie the promotion to 30 November 2026, and a buying guide adds that the CNY 99,900 car is limited to Shadow Black or Moon Silver paint and to 800 units nationwide, which only one outlet reports. Deposits paid by 30 November also qualify for low-down-payment and three-year interest-free financing. The 07 Pure lists at CNY 114,900 ($17,137) (iFeng, IT Home).

Both cars are built by Volkswagen Anhui in Hefei and sold in China only. elektroquatsch.de reported on 19 October 2026 that no launch in Germany, Austria or Switzerland has been announced and that the models were developed specifically for Chinese customers, and no source read mentions an export name or market. Availability outside China is therefore unconfirmed as of October 2026. For context, the site has already covered the larger ID. UNYX 09 sedan, and Volkswagen Anhui also cut the ID. UNYX 08's limited-time price by CNY 40,000 ($5,966) to CNY 189,900 ($28,323) in September 2026.

How It Compares

The comparison uses the rival figures stored in our own catalogue (starting prices in dollars, range as listed there). The 07 Lite at CNY 109,900 ($16,391) is priced about $400 below the Xpeng Mona M03's $16,800 entry price, although the Mona M03 offers 215 hp and 640 km while the Lite has 228 hp and 538 km; matching the Mona's range requires the Ultra, which is rated at 670 km but costs CNY 149,900 ($22,357). The Nissan N7 starts at $19,800 with 268 hp and 635 km, so the 07 Pure SE Plus at CNY 129,900 ($19,374) is the closest on price, with 40 hp less, a LiDAR system and a lower range of 538 km. For the 06, the Lynk & Co 20 is listed at $18,100 with 329 hp and 630 km, which is 101 hp more than the Volkswagen at a price about $1,300 below the 06 Lite's list price of CNY 129,900 ($19,374) and matches the 06 Ultra's 630 km for $7,200 less than its CNY 169,900 ($25,340). The Volkswagens' case rests on a standard 228 hp, a LiDAR city-NOA system from CNY 129,900 ($19,374) and the Volkswagen badge, while the weaker points are a smaller pack at the entry and unpublished charging data. The 06 and the 07 share a motor, so the sedan's lower price and longer range at the top make it the better value of the two.
