The 2026 KGM Actyon HEV is the larger of two self-charging hybrids KGM (the rebranded SsangYong, under Korean ownership since 2023) has brought to Europe, pairing a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with a dual-motor e-DHT hybrid transmission for a combined 150 kW (204 PS, 201 hp). It needs no plug and no charger — the small 1.83 kWh LFP battery tops itself up from the engine and regenerative braking, and the car can crawl or cruise on electric power alone up to 100 km/h before the engine steps in. Positioned as a spacious, value-driven coupe-SUV rival to the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4, it is confirmed on sale now in the UK (from GBP 38,995) and Germany (from EUR 44,890), sharing its core hybrid hardware with the smaller Torres Hybrid. There is no all-wheel-drive version and, for now, just one fully-loaded trim.
Performance & Specs
The Dual-Tech Hybrid system pairs a Miller-cycle 1.5-litre turbo four making 110 kW (150 PS / 148 hp) and 220 Nm with a pair of electric motors rated together at 130 kW (177 PS) and 300 Nm, run through KGM's e-DHT (electrified Dual Hybrid Transmission). Manufacturer-quoted combined system output is 150 kW (204 PS / 201 hp), enough to cut 0-62 mph to 9.0 seconds — nearly two seconds quicker than the outgoing 1.5-litre turbo petrol Actyon's 10.8 seconds — and a 175 km/h (109 mph) top speed. Nine automatic drive modes cycle between EV-only, series-hybrid, parallel-hybrid and engine-only running depending on load and speed, with three selectable levels of regenerative braking and a Smart Regenerative Braking mode that adapts deceleration automatically. Drive goes to the front wheels only; KGM has not announced an all-wheel-drive hybrid variant.

The Actyon HEV carries over the standard Actyon's body-in-white unchanged, so the hybrid hardware costs no cabin space versus the petrol version. KGM quotes a genuinely large footprint for the class — 4,740 mm long on a 2,680 mm wheelbase — and reviewers consistently praise the head, leg and shoulder room in both rows. Boot capacity is 668 litres with the rear seats up, rising to 1,568 litres with the 60:40 split-folding rear bench folded flat, figures that undercut few rivals in the mid-size hybrid-SUV class. A foot-sensor-operated power tailgate is standard, along with a glovebox, a large central cubby, door bins sized for water bottles and seatback pockets with a phone slot. Kerb weight is 1,725 kg, gross vehicle weight 2,290 kg, and the car is rated to tow up to 1,300 kg braked or 500 kg unbraked — modest for the segment but usable for a small trailer or caravan.

Charging & Battery
There is no plug on the Actyon HEV, and none is needed — the 1.83 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery is a small buffer pack, topped up entirely by the petrol engine and by regenerative braking energy recovery while driving. Drivers can choose from three levels of regenerative braking strength, or leave the car in its Smart Regenerative Braking mode, which reads the road ahead and adjusts deceleration automatically. Because the battery only has to smooth out torque delivery and enable short EV-only bursts rather than deliver meaningful all-electric range, KGM markets it purely on the fuel-saving side of the ledger: official combined consumption is 6.1 L/100 km (46.4 mpg), around 40 percent better than the outgoing 1.5-litre turbo petrol Actyon's real-world economy, with CO2 emissions of 138 g/km. The 50-litre fuel tank gives the Actyon HEV a real-world range well over 800 km between fill-ups on a combined cycle.

Design & Interior
The Actyon HEV keeps the standard model's polarizing coupe-SUV silhouette: a sharply raked roofline, a full-width LED light bar linking slim headlights, and a chunky, high-shouldered lower body that leans into KGM's rugged styling direction more than most mid-size crossover rivals. A hexagon-shaped steering wheel and "ACTYON HYBRID" badging front and rear are the main hybrid-specific visual cues, alongside a discreet KGM Hybrid badge on the tailgate. Inside, the cabin is dominated by a twin-screen digital cockpit — a 12.3-inch instrument display and an equally sized touchscreen sit side by side — finished in a dark, minimalist theme with a floating centre console. KGM fits a premium suede-effect (Ultra Suede) upholstery on the Actyon Hybrid that the standard petrol car does not get, along with noise-cancelling tyres to keep road roar down, electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors, a multifunction leather steering wheel, inductive phone charging and heated front and rear seats as standard. Reviewers have criticized the infotainment software itself as "not the slickest around" even while praising the hardware and the sheer amount of usable cabin space.
Technology & Features
The twin 12.3-inch displays run KGM's latest infotainment software with built-in TomTom navigation, a DAB digital radio, and smartphone integration, visible on the centre screen alongside trip data, range and audio source on the driver's digital cluster. A start/stop engine button, physical climate controls and a wireless charging pad round out the centre stack. KGM has not published Apple CarPlay/Android Auto wireless-connection specifics beyond confirming smartphone integration is standard, so buyers should verify wired-versus-wireless support with a dealer before assuming either. Voice control, OTA-style trip computer functions and a configurable digital instrument layout are also included as standard on the single launch trim, with no options list to wade through.
Safety & ADAS
Every Actyon HEV ships with eight airbags — front, side, curtain, knee and a centre airbag between the front seats — wrapped in a high-tensile steel body structure. The standard driver-assistance suite covers autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist and lane departure warning, rear cross-traffic warning with its own emergency braking function, blind-spot detection, a driver fatigue/attention monitor, and a 360-degree around-view camera system. ISOFIX child-seat mounting points are fitted in the rear. None of this is optional or trim-gated: because the Actyon HEV is sold as a single, fully-specified trim, every customer gets the full safety package by default.

Pricing & Availability
KGM launched the Actyon HEV alongside the smaller Torres Hybrid at the start of 2026, and it is confirmed on sale now in the UK, priced from GBP 38,995 (about $52,050) — roughly GBP 3,000 more than the Torres Hybrid's GBP 35,995 starting price, in exchange for extra kit like the 360-degree camera and suede-effect interior. In Germany it is sold as a single Lux-equipment hybrid trim from EUR 44,890 (about $51,175), badged simply "Actyon Hybrid." The car is also confirmed for sale in other European markets including Italy, building on the standard petrol Actyon's earlier rollout across Poland and other EU countries. There is currently just one hybrid trim level in each market and no confirmed AWD option. Every Actyon HEV carries a five-year, 100,000-mile (100,000 km in the EU) manufacturer warranty.
How It Compares
Against the Kia Sportage Hybrid, the Actyon HEV gives up roughly 30 hp and undercuts it slightly less than KGM's pricing headline suggests once the Sportage's cheaper UK starting price is converted — the KGM leans instead on its single fully-loaded spec, sparing buyers the trim-ladder decisions a Sportage shopper has to make. The Subaru Forester Hybrid is the closer power match and adds standard all-wheel drive that the FWD-only Actyon can't offer, though it asks a real premium once converted to comparable currency. Both established rivals have years of hybrid refinement and dealer networks behind them that the newly-rebranded KGM is still building out, so the Actyon HEV's pitch is less "best in class" and more "most space and kit for the money" from a brand betting its European relaunch on cars like this one.
- Strong real-world efficiency gain over the outgoing petrol Actyon — 46.4 mpg (6.1 L/100km) combined, roughly a 40 percent improvement
- Genuinely spacious cabin and a large 668-litre boot (1,568 litres seats down) for the segment
- Comprehensive standard safety and driver-assist kit — 8 airbags, AEB, lane keeping, blind-spot detection and a 360° camera on every car, with no options list
- Front-wheel drive only, with no all-wheel-drive hybrid variant for buyers who want extra traction
- Just one fully-loaded trim and price point in each market — no cheaper entry version to undercut budget hybrid rivals like the Kia Sportage
The 2026 KGM Actyon HEV is an easy car to like on paper: a genuinely large, well-equipped mid-size hybrid SUV that cuts fuel bills by around 40 percent over its old petrol engine, backed by a five-year warranty and a full safety suite as standard on every car. It's aimed squarely at buyers who value space and kit-per-dollar over outright dynamics or brand cachet, and on that measure it delivers. The trade-offs are real, though — FWD-only handling, a single trim with no cheaper way in, and an infotainment system that reviewers still find clunky next to class leaders like the Kia Sportage or Honda ZR-V. For a newly-rebranded brand rebuilding its European reputation, the Actyon HEV is a solid, honest value proposition rather than a segment leader.
