2026 XPeng G9: Up to 725 km Range, Up to 567 HP, From $37,108

The 2026 XPeng G9 carries a significant mid-cycle update: LFP battery packs across the board, 5C charging, and a power bump on the flagship AWD trim. Three trims now span the lineup — note that the widely-quoted 725 km CLTC range belongs specifically to the mid-tier 725 Max trim, not the true entry point. The base 625 Max actually starts at CNY 248,800 (~$37,108) with 625 km of range; stepping up roughly $1,500 to the 725 Max trim unlocks the full 725 km figure. The range-topping 680 4WD Max trades some range for a dual-motor 423 kW (567 hp) AWD powertrain and a 4.2-second 0-100 km/h sprint.

Performance & Specs

Both RWD trims (625 Max and 725 Max) share a 258 kW (346 hp) rear motor and 465 Nm of torque, with 0-100 km/h times of 6.6 and 6.4 seconds respectively — the 725 Max is marginally quicker thanks to its larger battery's higher discharge capability. The range-topping 680 4WD Max adds a 165 kW front motor for a combined 423 kW (567 hp) and 695 Nm of torque, cutting the sprint to a genuinely quick 4.2 seconds — figures independently confirmed by the reviewer's on-camera spec sheet in this article's source video, which matched official numbers almost exactly. Top speed across all three trims is electronically capped at 200 km/h.

Powertrain	Single-motor RWD BEV (625/725 Max)
Power	258 kW (346 hp)
Torque	465 Nm
0–100 km/h	6.6 s (625 Max) / 6.4 s (725 Max)
Battery	79.1 kWh (625 Max) / 93.1 kWh (725 Max)
Top trim (680 4WD Max)	423 kW (567 hp) AWD, 695 Nm, 4.2 s

Dimensions & Practicality

Length	4,891 mm
Width	1,937 mm
Height	1,670 mm
Wheelbase	~2,998 mm

At 4,891 mm long on a roughly 3,000 mm wheelbase, the G9 is a mid-to-full-size five-seat SUV. Cargo estimates vary slightly by source — roughly 660-750 litres behind the rear seats, expanding to somewhere around 1,580-1,700 litres folded flat — but every source agrees on a genuine front trunk of about 70 litres, confirmed both by the reviewer opening it on camera and by independent spec sheets converting to the same figure.

Charging & Battery

Both battery options are now LFP packs supporting 5C charging, taking either pack from 10-80% in about 12 minutes — up to 445 kW peak on the smaller 79.1 kWh pack, or 530 kW on the larger 93.1 kWh pack used by the 725 Max and 680 4WD Max trims. This is a meaningful upgrade from the G9's original launch specification.

Design & Interior

The 2026 model year brings a redesigned rear end with a full-width LED light bar and a cleaner front fascia, while the cabin pairs cognac/tan leather with dark trim on the units reviewed. There's no head-up display on the G9 — XPeng reserves that for other models in the lineup — but the digital instrument cluster and central touchscreen carry the bulk of the driver information, including range, charge percentage and navigation. The showroom units we reviewed rode on air suspension with 21-inch Michelin-shod wheels.

Technology & Features

The G9 runs XPeng's XOS software (undergoing a version update at the time of filming) paired with the brand's XNGP autonomous driving suite. English-language software support was reportedly rolling out for export/international orders by the end of August 2026 — worth confirming directly given this video was filmed some time before that date. Standard comfort features include wireless phone charging, a glove box, an armrest storage box, and a panoramic glass roof.

Pricing & Availability

Official Chinese pricing runs 248,800 to 278,800 CNY (roughly $37,108 to $41,582) across the three trims. At the ECB rate of 6.7048 yuan per dollar that is $37,108 for the 625 Max, $38,599 for the 725 Max and $41,582 for the 680 4WD Max. XPeng continues to expand the G9 into international markets, though as of this writing there's no confirmed official U.S. launch; buyers outside XPeng's direct markets typically go through independent LHD export/resale channels.

How It Compares

Both the BYD Great Tang and ZEEKR 7X significantly out-power the G9's RWD trims for similar or slightly higher money, making the G9's case rest more on range, charging speed and XPeng's ADAS suite than outright thrust — though the 680 4WD Max trim's 567 hp closes that gap considerably. Against the Tesla Model Y Long Range, the G9's base 725 Max trim matches Tesla's power output almost exactly while costing about $12,000 less and offering considerably more range on the more generous CLTC cycle (not a direct apples-to-apples comparison against Tesla's EPA figure, but a meaningful gap either way).
