Mazda has added a roof-mounted LiDAR to its China-built electric crossover, and it has done it at a price few rivals will enjoy. The 2027 Mazda EZ-60 — sold outside China as the CX-6e — went on sale in China on September 26, 2026 at the Changan Mazda fan festival, with nine trims split between a pure-electric version and a range-extender (EREV) version. Four of those trims carry the new LiDAR hardware, and the cheapest of them, the EREV Pro LiDAR, costs 145,900 yuan (about $21,700) at the current limited-time launch price.
The LiDAR is a Hesai ATX unit, paired with three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 11 cameras, and it upgrades the car from basic L2 driver assistance to a navigation-assisted system that works on highways and in cities. The option adds 12,000 yuan (about $1,800) to a comparable non-LiDAR trim, which makes it one of the cheapest ways in China to buy a mainstream crossover with a laser scanner on the roof. All prices in this article are converted at 6.72 yuan to the dollar, the mid-market rate in the last week of September 2026.
Performance & Specs
Every trim uses a single rear-mounted motor rated at 190 kW (258 PS, or about 255 hp) and 290 Nm of torque, driving the rear wheels with a claimed 50:50 front-to-rear weight split. Kilowatts are the unit Chinese specification sheets use, and PS is the metric horsepower used by European brochures, so the same motor is often quoted as 258 hp by outlets that mix the two; the imperial figure is 255 hp. Top speed is reported at 185 km/h, and the chassis uses continuously variable damping.
The EREV version keeps that 190 kW motor but feeds it from a 31.73 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, good for 200 km of electric driving on the CLTC cycle. A 1.5-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine rated at 72 kW (about 97 hp) acts purely as a generator and never drives the wheels directly. The pure-electric version swaps that package for a 77.94 kWh LFP battery, reportedly supplied by CALB, with up to 600 km of CLTC range. Some coverage quotes 585 km for certain configurations, so treat 600 km as the best case. CLTC is the most generous of the major test cycles, and a near-identical 78 kWh battery is rated at 484 km on Europe's WLTP cycle in the European-market car.

Dimensions & Practicality
| Length | 4,850 mm |
|---|---|
| Width | 1,935 mm |
| Height | 1,620 mm |
| Wheelbase | 2,902 mm |
At 4,850 mm long, 1,935 mm wide and 1,620 mm tall, the EZ-60 is a large mid-size crossover with a coupe-like sloping roofline. The 2,902 mm wheelbase is long for a car that costs under $25,000. The car was developed inside the Changan-Mazda joint venture and shares its platform with the Changan Deepal S07.
Boot and frunk figures vary between published sources for the China-market car, so we are not quoting a single litre figure here. Curb weight is reported at roughly 2.0 to 2.2 tonnes depending on the trim, which is heavy but normal for a large LFP-powered crossover.

Charging & Battery
The EV trims use a 77.94 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack and support 3C fast charging, which Mazda and Changan quote at 30-80% in about 15 minutes. That is a quick figure for an LFP battery in this price bracket. The EREV trims carry the much smaller 31.73 kWh pack, which covers about 200 km of daily electric driving and relies on the 72 kW generator for longer trips.
For most buyers the practical difference is simple. The EV avoids fuel entirely and offers up to 600 km on the CLTC cycle, while the EREV costs less to enter with the LiDAR package and removes range anxiety on long drives. Changan Mazda also extends its lifetime warranty on the three core electric systems — battery, motor and electronic control — to both new and existing owners of the EZ-60 and its sibling EZ-6, a notable ownership perk for a joint-venture brand.
| BATTERY (EV) | 77.94 kWh LFP |

| BATTERY (EREV) | 31.73 kWh LFP |
| DC FAST CHARGING | 3C (EV) |
| DC 30-80% TIME | About 15 min (EV) |
| EV RANGE (CLTC) | Up to 600 km |
| EREV ELECTRIC RANGE (CLTC) | 200 km |
Design & Interior
The exterior keeps the low nose, slim lighting and sweeping roofline of Mazda's Kodo design language, with a full-width taillight bar at the rear. The LiDAR trims are easy to spot: a small sensor pod sits on the roof above the top edge of the windscreen.
Inside, the cabin is dominated by a 26.45-inch 5K display that stretches from the driver's side across to the passenger side, with an augmented-reality head-up display in front of the driver. The center console is largely button-free, a clear departure from the physical-switch approach of older Mazda cabins, and the launch cars shown at the official event have dark leather-look seats with light contrast trim. The European-market CX-6e uses a similar 26-inch dual-screen layout.
Technology & Features
The headline change for 2027 is the driver-assistance hardware. Trims without the LiDAR keep a basic L2 camera-and-radar system, while the Pro LiDAR and Max LiDAR trims add the Hesai ATX scanner and the software that goes with it. Changan Mazda says the upgraded system covers more than 200 assisted-driving scenarios, including navigation-assisted driving on highways up to 130 km/h, city driving up to 80 km/h, and full-scenario smart parking.
A 3 nm chip powers the cabin, and Changan Mazda says further parking functions will arrive by over-the-air update. As with any Chinese-market driver-assistance system, the real-world quality of the city function will depend on software updates and local map coverage, and those figures are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results.
Safety & ADAS
All nine trims come with nine airbags and a cage-style body structure. On the four LiDAR trims the extra sensor feeds an upgraded active-safety layer: 360-degree warning, correction and braking, with improved detection of pedestrians, cyclists and unexpected obstacles. The three millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 11 cameras are standard on the LiDAR trims.
| ADAS LEVEL | Advanced L2 with navigation assist (LiDAR trims) |

Pricing & Availability
The 2027 EZ-60 range has nine trims with official guide prices from 119,900 to 172,900 yuan and limited-time launch prices from 113,900 to 166,900 yuan. Without LiDAR, the launch prices are 113,900 yuan ($16,900) for the EREV Air, 133,900 yuan ($19,900) for the EREV Pro, 148,900 yuan ($22,200) for the EREV Max, 139,900 yuan ($20,800) for the EV Pro and 154,900 yuan ($23,100) for the EV Max. Every LiDAR trim costs 12,000 yuan more than its non-LiDAR twin, and every launch price is 6,000 yuan below the guide price.
Outside China, the car is sold as the CX-6e as a pure-electric model only; the EREV and the LiDAR trims have been announced for China. In Europe the CX-6e uses a 78 kWh LFP battery for up to 484 km of WLTP range, the same 190 kW (258 PS / 255 hp) and 290 Nm rear motor, a 0-100 km/h time of 7.9 seconds, and DC charging of up to roughly 195-200 kW (10-80% in about 24 minutes). The German list price is €49,990. Australia is due to receive the CX-6e from September 2026 at AU$53,990 and AU$56,990 before on-road costs. These export cars are a separate specification from the China-market trims above and are not confirmed to get the LiDAR option.
How It Compares
The closest relative is the Changan Deepal S07, which shares the platform and the range-extender concept. In our database it starts around $25,957 with 268 hp, so the Mazda undercuts it by several thousand dollars in LiDAR EREV form while offering slightly less power on paper. Against the BYD Yuan Plus (ATTO 3), a compact electric SUV at $20,630 with 201 hp and 480 km of range, the EZ-60 costs a little more but is a full size class larger, with 54 more hp and a claimed 600 km on the EV trim.
The ZEEKR 7X is the performance outlier at 496 hp and $24,400, and it shows how crowded the $22,000 to $25,000 bracket has become. The Mazda's pitch is not raw speed but a large, polished cabin, Mazda-tuned handling and a laser scanner for under $22,000. Buyers who want maximum power will look elsewhere, but for a family crossover with a real driver-assistance upgrade, few cars in that price band match the package.
- LiDAR-equipped crossover from about $21,700, with the option costing only 12,000 yuan (about $1,800)
- Choice of a 600 km CLTC electric version or a 200 km EREV, both with 190 kW (255 hp) rear drive
- 3C fast charging (30-80% in about 15 minutes) and a lifetime warranty on the battery, motor and controls for new and existing owners
- City and highway navigation-assist claims are manufacturer figures and depend on China-only map coverage and future software updates
- Range is quoted on the generous CLTC cycle; the European version of the same battery is rated at 484 km on WLTP
The 2027 Mazda EZ-60 (CX-6e) with LiDAR is one of the most affordable ways in China to get a large, well-finished crossover with a laser scanner and highway-plus-city navigation assist. The 190 kW (255 hp) rear-drive layout, the 600 km EV option and the fast 3C charging are strong for money that starts around $21,700, and the EREV trims give buyers a cheaper entry. The trade-offs are unproven driver-assistance software and a CLTC range that will shrink on other test cycles. If you live in China and want the most technology for the least money, this is an easy shortlist car.
