The Mazda CX-6e is Mazdaβs most important EV yet β a mid-size electric SUV that finally gives the brand a competitive, long-range battery model for Europe and global markets. Known in China as the Mazda EZ-60, itβs a product of the Changan-Mazda joint venture and shares its underpinnings with the Deepal S07, but wraps them in Mazdaβs elegant βKodoβ-evolved design and the Japanese βMaβ (beauty of empty space) interior philosophy. It pairs a 78 kWh battery with a single 258 hp rear motor for up to 484 km of WLTP range, fast 195 kW DC charging, and a cabin headlined by a sweeping 26-inch display and digital side mirrors. A range-extender (EREV) version is also offered in China. It made its world premiere on January 9, 2026, with European sales following through the year.
Performance & Powertrain
The European CX-6e is rear-wheel drive, with a single rear motor making 190 kW (258 hp) and 290 Nm, good for 0β100 km/h in 7.9 seconds and a 185 km/h top speed β relaxed rather than rapid, in keeping with its premium-cruiser brief. Power comes from a 77 kWh usable (78 kWh nominal) LFP battery delivering up to 484 km WLTP on 19-inch wheels (468 km on 21s). DC fast charging peaks at 195 kW for a 10β80% top-up in around 24β25 minutes, with 11 kW AC on board. In China, buyers also get a choice of two NMC BEV batteries (66.8 / 80 kWh, up to 620 km CLTC) and a range-extender (EREV) version β a 1.5L petrol generator plus a 31.7 kWh LFP pack for ~200 km of electric-only CLTC range β though Europe launches with the pure-electric car.

At 4,850 mm long on a 2,902 mm wheelbase, the CX-6e is a true mid-size SUV β close in footprint to a Tesla Model Y but longer, with a low 1,620 mm roofline that gives it a sleek, almost coupe-SUV stance rather than a tall-box look. It seats five, and the long wheelbase frees up generous rear legroom. Unladen weight is around 2,205 kg. The cabin leans into Mazdaβs minimalist βMaβ philosophy β uncluttered surfaces, tactile materials, a panoramic sunroof and ambient light β while the tech is front and centre via the 26-inch display and camera-based digital side mirrors that also tidy up the exterior aero.

Design, Interior & Technology
The CX-6e is Mazdaβs boldest design statement yet: an athletic, low-slung body with a floating roof, slim signature lighting front and rear, full-width light bars and a new Nightfall Violet paint that shifts in the light. Inside, the βMaβ philosophy means a deliberately uncluttered, calming space β in the launch car finished in a striking violet-and-cream leather β anchored by the 26-inch display and operated through intuitive voice and gesture controls. Digital side mirrors replace the conventional glass, feeding camera views to in-cabin screens. Itβs a meaningful tech leap for Mazda, made possible by the Changan-Mazda partnership, and aimed at buyers who want a design-led, premium-feeling EV without German-brand pricing.

The CX-6e is the EV Mazda needed β and a textbook example of how a legacy brand can move fast by partnering in China. Underneath itβs a Deepal S07, but Mazdaβs contribution is exactly where it matters for buyers: genuinely beautiful, design-led styling, a calm and tactile βMaβ-philosophy cabin, and a big-screen, digital-mirror tech package that finally feels current. It wonβt out-range a Model Y or out-charge an 800V Hyundai, and at 258 hp itβs a cruiser rather than a corner-carver. But for the substantial number of buyers who choose a car with their eyes and value a serene interior over spec-sheet bragging rights, the CX-6e is one of the most desirable mid-size EVs of its price class β and the most convincing electric Mazda to date.
