The 2026 iCAR V27 is Chery's square-cut, off-road-styled range-extended SUV, and on September 30, 2026 it gains a Long-Range Edition with a 51.2 kWh CATL battery rated at 300 km of pure-electric CLTC range. That is roughly 90 to 100 km more electric range than the trims sold since the car launched in China on March 13, 2026. The V27 is the iCAR brand's first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) and the flagship of its V-series; in export markets the same car is sold as the iCAUR V27. The current three-trim lineup starts at CNY 169,800 (about $25,300) for the rear-drive Falcon 500 and reaches CNY 196,800 (about $29,400) for the lidar-equipped Falcon 700, with dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions making 335 kW (455 PS / 449 hp). Pricing for the new 51.2 kWh version is due at the launch event.
Performance & Specs
The V27 is a series range-extender: a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine rated at 105 kW (141 hp) works purely as a generator, while the electric motors drive the wheels. Chery quotes a peak thermal efficiency of 45.79 percent and a generation rate of 3.71 kWh of electricity per litre of fuel, and the car carries a 60-litre tank of 92-octane petrol. The rear-drive Falcon 500 uses a single 185 kW (248 hp) rear motor with 300 Nm of torque. The all-wheel-drive versions add a front motor for a combined 335 kW (455 PS / 449 hp) and 505 Nm; the export specification sheet splits that as 150 kW at the front and 185 kW at the rear. For readers unfamiliar with PS, it is the metric horsepower, about 1.4 percent smaller than the imperial hp used in this article.
Performance is strong for the price. The all-wheel-drive trims are quoted at 5.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h, while the rear-drive car needs about 8.4 seconds according to spec databases, and top speed is listed at 180 km/h. Curb weight is 2,222 kg for the rear-drive Falcon 500 and 2,335 kg for the all-wheel-drive cars. Chinese sources label the all-wheel-drive layout i-AWD and list eight-plus terrain modes, an electronic locking differential and a 24-degree approach angle, with 220 mm of ground clearance and 600 mm of water-wading depth.

The V27 is a genuinely large five-seater. The body is 4,909 mm long, or 5,055 mm once the rear-mounted spare wheel is counted, with a 2,910 mm wheelbase, a 1,976 mm width and a height of up to 1,894 mm. That puts it in the same size class as full-size off-roaders, yet the car rides on a unibody structure rather than a ladder frame.
Cargo space is a strength. With the rear seats up the boot holds 715 litres, and folding the second row opens up 1,818 litres; a further 40-litre compartment sits under the load cover on the export specification. Chery also promotes a flat-floor bed mode measuring 2,150 by 1,050 mm and about 50 storage spaces across the cabin. Second-row knee room is quoted at 950 mm, and the interior height is quoted at around 1,350 mm.

Charging & Battery
Every V27 uses a CATL lithium iron phosphate (LFP) pack. Trims sold in China since March carry 34.3 kWh, good for 210 km of CLTC electric range on the rear-drive car and 200 km on the all-wheel-drive cars. The Long-Range Edition swaps in a 51.2 kWh pack, a 49.3 percent increase, for 300 km of CLTC range. The arithmetic checks out: 34.3 kWh over 200 km works out to about 17.2 kWh per 100 km, and 51.2 kWh over 300 km is about 17.1 kWh per 100 km, so the bigger battery adds range without changing efficiency. The rear-drive car is slightly more frugal at about 16.3 kWh per 100 km. These are battery-to-wheel CLTC figures, and CLTC is a generous test cycle; outlets converting the new rating to WLTP land between roughly 215 and 246 km.
Fast charging is quoted at 30-80% in 17 minutes for the 34.3 kWh car, with a peak DC rate of about 100 kW, and iCAR says the same 17 minutes applies to the new 51.2 kWh pack. That claim implies an average of about 90 kW across a 25.6 kWh top-up, so the larger battery must accept more than the roughly 100 kW peak quoted for the smaller one, or the figure is a best case. The Long-Range Edition also raises vehicle-to-load (V2L) output to 6.0 kW from 3.3 kW, enough to run camping equipment or power tools from the battery.
| BATTERY | 34.3 kWh CATL LFP; 51.2 kWh CATL LFP (Long-Range Edition) |
|---|---|
| DC FAST CHARGING | About 100 kW peak (34.3 kWh trims) |
| DC 30-80% TIME | 17 min |
| V2L OUTPUT | 6.0 kW (Long-Range Edition) |
| FUEL TANK | 60 L, 92-octane |
Design & Interior
The V27 leans hard into the boxy off-road look: a flat, upright nose, round LED headlights with circular light rings, squared-off wheel arches, a rear blind window and a full-size spare wheel on the tailgate. The all-wheel-drive trims ride on 21-inch dark alloy wheels with all-terrain tyres, while the rear-drive Falcon 500 uses 19-inch wheels. Side steps, a roof rail and roof-mounted toggle switches reinforce the utility theme, and the car is offered in a range of earthy paints including desert bronze and deep emerald green.
Inside, the cabin pairs a wide dashboard with a floating 15.4-inch central screen and a digital instrument cluster of about 8.8 inches. The interior is finished in warm brown leather and suede-like materials, with ventilated and heated front seats, a wireless charging pad and an overhead switch panel. For the Long-Range Edition, iCAR has teased zero-gravity seats with ventilation, heating and a 14-point, eight-mode massage function, four-way electric lumbar support in front, a starry-window dual sunroof with a suede-like headliner, and seven pieces of sound-insulating glass, which it describes as the most in the class.
Technology & Features
Every trim gets a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P cockpit chip, a 15.4-inch 2.5K touchscreen and a voice assistant that combines an AI-hub large language model with DeepSeek. The Falcon 500 trims run a Horizon Journey 6M driver-assistance chip rated at 128 TOPS, while the Falcon 700 upgrades to the Journey 6P at 560 TOPS with a lidar. On the off-road side, the V27 offers 8+X terrain modes, and AWD trims include a towing package. Intelligent parking rounds out the list on the Falcon 700.
Safety & ADAS
The Falcon 700 trim carries what iCAR calls its Super Falcon 700+ system: one lidar, three millimetre-wave radars, twelve ultrasonic sensors, two 8-megapixel cameras and nine 3-megapixel cameras, for 27 sensors in total. That hardware feeds city and highway navigation assistance and intelligent parking. The Falcon 500 trims use the lighter Super Falcon 500 package on the 128 TOPS Journey 6M chip. All versions have seven airbags and a body with a torsional stiffness of 32,000 Nm per degree.

Pricing & Availability
The V27 went on sale in China on March 13, 2026 at CNY 169,800 for the 210KM two-wheel-drive Falcon 500, CNY 182,800 for the 200KM four-wheel-drive Falcon 500 and CNY 196,800 for the 200KM four-wheel-drive Falcon 700. At roughly 6.7 yuan to the dollar those prices convert to about $25,300, $27,300 and $29,400. Launch-period incentives ran to May 31 and included a purchase-tax benefit of up to CNY 8,700 and trade-in support of up to CNY 6,000, and Chinese consumer outlets report that dealer discounts of roughly CNY 18,000 to 34,000 are available in September depending on region and stock. The Long-Range Edition launches on September 30, 2026, and its price had not been announced as of September 29.
Demand has cooled since launch: CarNewsChina reports monthly deliveries falling from 4,184 units in April to 1,609 in August, which explains the push for a bigger battery. Outside China, iCAUR presented the V27 in Dubai in February 2026, and a locally assembled Malaysian version is confirmed. Australia is slated for February 2027, and Thailand and Indonesia are also confirmed markets.
How It Compares
The closest match in our catalog is the BYD Fangchengbao Titanium 7 PHEV, another boxy plug-in off-roader. Its 190KM 4WD Max trim makes 490 hp, 41 hp more than the V27, for about $1,700 more, but its 190 km of electric range and 1,000 km total range trail the iCAR's 200 km and 1,200 km. The Changan Deepal S07 EREV sits at a similar price of $25,957 with 268 hp and 1,100 km of total range, so the V27 offers 181 hp more from its all-wheel-drive Falcon 500 for a modest premium, though the two are different body styles.
For a value contrast, the GWM Tank 500 PHEV is a boxy plug-in hybrid off-roader that costs $49,434 in our catalog for 402 hp, a 50 km electric range and seven seats. For roughly $22,000 less the V27 gives you more power and four times the electric range, but it seats five, not seven. Those two are not direct cross-shop rivals, so read the Tank 500 as a price-to-spec yardstick rather than an equal.
- 449 hp dual-motor AWD with a 5.5-second 0-100 km/h time from about $27,300
- Real off-road hardware: 220 mm ground clearance, 600 mm wading depth and 8+X terrain modes
- Long-Range Edition lifts CLTC electric range to 300 km with a 51.2 kWh CATL battery and 6 kW V2L
- Five seats only, while the GWM Tank 500 PHEV offers seven
- The rear-drive Falcon 500 needs about 8.4 seconds to reach 100 km/h
The iCAR V27 is one of the cheapest ways to buy a genuinely large, boxy off-roader with plug-in electric range, and the Falcon 500 all-wheel-drive trim at about $27,300 is the value pick. The Falcon 700 adds lidar, a 560 TOPS chip and magnetic dampers for about $2,100 more, which suits buyers who want city navigation assistance. The 300 km Long-Range Edition should make the car far more usable as a mostly electric daily driver, but wait for its price on September 30 before choosing between the versions. Recommended for adventurous families who want space and style, provided five seats are enough.
