The MG IM6 is the electric SUV at the centre of MG's push into the premium segment, sold under the new IM sub-label in Europe and simply as the IM6 in Israel. In China the same car is known as the IM LS6, built by SAIC-backed IM Motors, whose name stands for Intelligence in Motion. The Long Range, Performance and Launch Edition use a 100 kWh NMC battery on an 800-volt system with a peak of 396 kW DC (a smaller 75 kWh LFP Standard Range exists in some markets), and MG quotes 10-80% in 17 minutes on a 350 kW charger. Two power levels are on offer: a rear-wheel-drive Long Range with 300 kW (407 PS, about 401 hp) and a dual-motor Performance with 553 kW (751 PS, about 741 hp) that reaches 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. In the UK it starts at £48,495 including VAT, in Germany at €56,990 and in Israel from about NIS 209,000, and Euro NCAP gave the IM6 five stars.
Performance & Specs
The base 100 Long Range uses a single rear-mounted synchronous motor producing 300 kW (407 PS, about 401 hp) and 500 Nm, which MG's UK data sheet pairs with a 0-62 mph time of 5.4 seconds and a top speed of 146 mph (235 km/h). The 100 Performance and the UK-only Launch Edition add a front motor for all-wheel drive. Together the two motors make 553 kW (751 PS, about 741 hp) and 802 Nm, good for 0-62 mph in 3.5 seconds and 148 mph (239 km/h). MG's marketing calls the motor the Hurricane Motor and quotes 751 hp on its UK page, which is the PS figure rounded loosely; converted properly, 751 PS is about 741 hp, and 553 kW multiplied by 1.341 gives the same result.
A third, smaller powertrain exists in some markets. The Standard Range is a 75 kWh LFP rear-wheel-drive model with 217 kW (295 PS, about 291 hp), 450 Nm, a 6.8-second 0-100 km/h time and 210 km/h top speed according to Israeli price lists. It runs on a 400-volt system and charges at up to 153 kW. It is on sale in the Netherlands (€51,799) and Israel (about NIS 209,000), while the UK and Germany list only the 100 kWh cars. In the Israeli price list the dual-motor car is quoted at 777 hp. That is not MG Europe's number: it is consistent with the 579 kW peak rating Chinese launch coverage gave for the LS6 (579 kW is about 777 hp), whereas MG UK and MG Switzerland rate the same hardware at 553 kW (751 PS). Treat 741 hp as the European figure and 777 hp as the Israeli importer's claim.
Chassis hardware is generous for the money. Double-wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension, 365 mm ventilated discs with four-piston calipers at both ends and Pirelli Scorpion Elec tyres are fitted across the range, and active four-wheel steering with a crab mode is standard on every trim, giving a 10.18 m turning circle. The Launch Edition adds adaptive damping with air suspension; in Germany the same hardware comes in a €2,000 Drive Pack on the all-wheel-drive car, and in Israel air suspension is a NIS 11,000 option.

The IM6 is 4,904 mm long, 1,988 mm wide and 1,669 mm tall on a 2,950 mm wheelbase, making it a large crossover with a fastback roofline rather than a boxy SUV. MG quotes a 665 litre boot with the seats up on the Long Range and Performance, growing to 1,640 litres with the 60:40 rear seats folded, and 646 to 1,621 litres on the Launch Edition. A 32 litre front trunk and a hidden compartment under the boot floor add more stowage. Braked towing is rated at 1,500 kg (750 kg unbraked) with a 75 kg tow-ball load. UK kerb weight is 2,320 kg for the Long Range and 2,410 kg for the Performance and Launch Edition, while MG Switzerland lists 2,485 kg for the dual-motor car, so weights differ by market and how they are measured. The rear seat backrests are adjustable, and the double-glazed panoramic roof and laminated side glass are standard.

Charging & Battery
All 100 kWh cars share one NMC pack that MG lists as 100 kWh nominal and 96.5 kWh usable, with a maximum operating voltage of 875 V and a nominal 751 V. Peak DC power is 396 kW, and MG's headline claim of 10-80% in 17 minutes applies to a 350 kW ultra-fast charger under standardised test conditions, which MG itself notes can be hard to find. On a 50 kW public rapid charger the same window takes about 1 hour 30 minutes, according to MG's UK data. At home the 11 kW onboard charger fills the pack from 10 to 100% in roughly 16 hours on a 7 kW wallbox, while a domestic three-pin socket needs about 50 hours and is meant for emergencies only.
The battery-to-range maths hangs together. MG's WLTP consumption is 3.4 miles per kWh (18.2 kWh/100 km) for the Long Range and 2.6 miles per kWh (23.4 kWh/100 km) for the Performance, which are grid-side figures that include charging losses. Dividing the 96.5 kWh usable capacity by the 625 km and 505 km ranges gives about 15.4 and 19.1 kWh/100 km at the battery, roughly 18 to 22% lower, as expected. The Standard Range uses a smaller 75 kWh LFP battery on a 400-volt system, peaks at 153 kW and is rated at 450 km WLTP by Israel's importer and the Dutch press.
The range figures need care. MG UK quotes 388 miles (625 km) WLTP for the Long Range, which has 20-inch aero wheels as standard. Germany and Switzerland publish 555 km for the same drivetrain, and Israel's importer lists 555 km with 625 km only as an option, while charging NIS 6,000 for the aero wheels on the Long Range. The gap therefore looks wheel-dependent rather than a different battery. The dual-motor car is 313 miles (505 km) in the UK and 505 km in Germany and Switzerland, so that figure is consistent.

Design & Interior
The IM6 is a coupe-style crossover with a long, sloping roofline that ends in a glass tailgate, a full-width light strip at the rear and a slim light signature at the front. Frameless doors with automatic flush handles are standard, as are 20-inch aero wheels on the Long Range and 21-inch sport wheels on the dual-motor trims. The UK range comes in four colours: Arctic White as standard, and Nevis Blue, Rembrandt Grey and Black Pearl as metallic options. In Israel the base price covers white only, and any other colour adds NIS 5,000.
Inside, the focus is a 26.3-inch full HD one-piece ultrawide screen that works as driver display and infotainment, backed by a 10.5-inch central touchscreen. The seats are ultra-soft leather-style with a 12-way power driver seat with memory and massage, ventilated front seats, heated outer rear seats and a heated steering wheel. Grey is the standard interior and white is a free option. A 20-speaker audio system, road-noise cancellation, double-layer soundproof glass and a ventilated 50 W wireless phone charger round out the cabin, and the 2,950 mm wheelbase is aimed at generous rear legroom.
Technology & Features
MG describes the IM6 as having a digital core that links steering, suspension and braking. The software features include Rainy Night Mode, which renders pedestrians and other vehicles on screen in poor visibility, and One-Touch iAD, which handles parking, pulling out, kerbside parking and reversing along up to 100 metres of remembered route. IM Voice Control, satellite navigation, a 360-degree camera with transparent-chassis view, Bluetooth phone key, intelligent comfort stop for smoother braking and two regeneration levels are fitted across the range, along with five drive modes and a snow mode. The Israeli importer states the cockpit runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip and driver assistance on an NVIDIA Orin N, while MG UK does not publish chip details. The UK warranty is 7 years or 80,000 miles for the car and 8 years or 100,000 miles for the battery; Israel offers 8 years or 250,000 km, and Switzerland 7 years or 150,000 km.
Safety & ADAS
Euro NCAP awarded the IM6 five stars on 8 September 2025, with 90% for adult occupants, 85% for child occupants, 83% for vulnerable road users and 87% for safety assist. The car tested was the left-hand-drive 75 kWh Standard Range at 2,310 kg, and Euro NCAP noted that the passenger compartment stayed stable in the frontal offset test, with maximum points in the side barrier test and a standard driver monitoring system. ANCAP in Australia also gave the IM6 five stars. Standard equipment includes front, front-side, front-centre and curtain airbags, two ISOFIX points, a tyre pressure monitor and a front passenger airbag deactivation switch.

Pricing & Availability
All prices below are manufacturer or importer list prices checked in October 2026. In the UK, MG's own configurator lists the IM6 100 Long Range at £48,495, the 100 Performance at £51,495 and the 100 Launch Edition at £53,495, all including VAT, and customer deliveries began in September 2025. In Germany the IM6 100 kWh Premium costs €56,990 in rear-wheel drive and €60,990 with all-wheel drive; MG announced a July 2026 launch there together with France, Belgium and the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, MG lists the Standard Range at €51,799, the Long Range at €58,799 and the Performance at €64,799, according to Dutch outlets in mid-September 2026. In Switzerland, MG's importer Astara listed the IM6 from about CHF 49,900 for the 100 kWh Long Range at its October 2025 launch, with the Performance from CHF 55,900.
In Israel the IM6 is sold under the IM brand, not MG, by the Lubinsky Group, which also imports Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, DS and MG. Carzone's price list shows the 75 kWh rear-wheel-drive car at NIS 209,000, while IM's Israeli website shows NIS 215,000 for it only on a cash-track promotion listed to 15 October 2026. The site lists the 100 kWh Long Range from NIS 239,000 and the dual-motor Performance from NIS 296,000, each plus a licence fee of about NIS 2,786 to 3,899, with an 8 year or 250,000 km warranty. Israeli outlets published the launch prices on 10 November 2025, including NIS 215,000 for the entry car. The Israeli price sites list additional Long Range Plus and CDC variants at NIS 245,000 to 259,000, so check the importer for current promotions and stock conditions.
How It Compares
The closest relative is the MG IM5, the sedan built on the same platform, which MG UK lists at £45,495 for the Long Range with the same 300 kW motor, a faster 4.9-second 0-62 mph time and 441 miles of WLTP range on its 19-inch aero wheels. The IM5 is cheaper and goes further, but it has a lower boot at 457 litres against the IM6's 665 litres, so the IM6 suits buyers who want the SUV body and space. Against the Tesla Model Y, Tesla's UK configurator lists the Premium Long Range rear-wheel-drive at £49,990 in standard Stealth Grey, or £51,290 with the £1,300 Pearl White paint, with 375 miles of WLTP range and a 5.4-second 0-60 mph time, so the Long Range IM6 is cheaper by £1,495 against the standard-colour Tesla and by £2,795 against the Pearl White car, while quoting a longer range (388 miles against 375) and the same acceleration. The Performance IM6 adds 3.5 seconds to 62 mph for £51,495. Tesla's figures are from its UK page on 20 October 2026, and its 0-60 mph and MG's 0-62 mph times are not strictly identical benchmarks.
- 800-volt charging at up to 396 kW, with 10-80% in 17 minutes on a 350 kW charger under test conditions
- Strong value for the hardware: from £48,495 in the UK with 401 hp, 665 L of boot and four-wheel steering as standard, and 741 hp with 3.5 seconds to 62 mph from £51,495
- Five Euro NCAP stars (90% adult, 85% child, 83% vulnerable road users, 87% safety assist) and a 7-year UK warranty
- Dual-motor range drops to 505 km WLTP (313 miles in the UK), about 120 km below the Long Range, with a consumption of 23.4 kWh/100 km
- Specifications and range claims differ by market: 625 km or 555 km for the Long Range depending on wheels and country, and the 75 kWh LFP car is not sold in the UK or Germany
The IM6 is a large, well-equipped electric SUV that comes in about £1,500 below the Tesla Model Y Premium Long Range RWD in the UK on price while offering 800-volt charging and a dual-motor option that hits 62 mph in 3.5 seconds. The Long Range is the sensible pick at £48,495, with up to 625 km WLTP, while the Performance is the fun one at £51,495 but gives up about 120 km of range. Buyers should check the wheel size when comparing range figures, and treat the 17-minute charge as a best case on a 350 kW charger. It is a convincing premium alternative for buyers who value space, charging speed and equipment over brand heritage.
