The Ioniq 5 N is Hyundai N's electric high-performance crossover: a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive car that makes 448 kW (609 PS, about 601 hp) in normal driving and 478 kW (650 PS, about 641 hp) for up to 10 seconds when the driver presses the N Grin Boost button. Hyundai Europe quotes 740 Nm of torque, rising to 770 Nm with the boost, 0-100 km/h in 3.5 seconds (3.4 seconds with N Grin Boost) and a top speed of 260 km/h. The 84 kWh battery is rated at 448 km on the WLTP cycle and accepts up to 260 kW of DC power on an 800-volt architecture. For the 2026 model year Hyundai Motor America cut the US starting price by $6,300 to $59,900 before a $1,600 destination charge, and added a NACS charge port, a ten-stage N Drift Optimizer and a new Performance Blue Pearl paint. In Israel the importer Kalmobil renewed its marketing on 17 June 2026 at NIS 409,900.
Performance & Specs
The Ioniq 5 N has one electric motor on each axle, built into Hyundai's integrated drive axles. Hyundai Europe's technical data lists the rated torque as 350 Nm at the front plus 390 Nm at the rear, 740 Nm in total, and 370 plus 400 Nm, 770 Nm in total, with N Grin Boost. A note on units: European documents quote 609 PS and 650 PS, the metric horsepower, which convert to about 601 hp and 641 hp (478 kW x 1.341 is 641 hp). Hyundai Motor America and US outlets use the 641 hp figure for the boosted output, and the 601 hp normal output is the same 448 kW the European documents list. N Grin Boost is available for up to 10 seconds per press and is not a permanent rating.
Hyundai Europe's March 2024 press information gives 3.5 seconds from 0 to 100 km/h and 3.4 seconds with N Grin Boost, and Israeli outlets repeat 3.4 seconds. Hyundai Germany's current page also lists 3.5 s, or 3.4 s with N Grin Boost. Top speed is 260 km/h (about 162 mph) and electronically limited.
The software is what makes the car an N. N e-Shift simulates the shifts of an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, N Active Sound+ plays combustion-style and futuristic electric sounds through the Bose speakers, and N Torque Distribution offers eleven front-to-rear power levels. The N Drift Optimizer keeps the drift angle and includes a Torque Kick Drift function, and for 2026 the US model has ten selectable stages of it instead of a single mode. An electronic limited-slip differential on the rear axle has a capacity of 1,800 Nm, N Brake Regen delivers up to 0.6 g of deceleration, and the tyres are 275/35 R21 Pirelli P Zero on 21-inch forged aluminium wheels.

Charging & Battery
The 84.0 kWh lithium-ion battery works with an 800-volt architecture. Hyundai Germany's price list of July 2026 gives a maximum DC charging power of 260 kW, while Hyundai Motor America cites 238 kW for the US car. The same price list quotes 10 to 80% in about 18 minutes on a 350 kW charger and about 1 hour 10 minutes on a 50 kW station, while the AC on-board charger is rated at 11 kW and a 230 V household outlet takes about 7 hours 35 minutes from 10 to 100%. Hyundai does not split the 84.0 kWh into gross and usable capacity in its European data sheet, so treat it as the headline capacity.
The European WLTP combined consumption is 21.2 kWh/100 km at the socket, which includes charging losses, against 448 km of combined range and 589 km in the urban cycle. Dividing the 84 kWh battery by 448 km gives 18.8 kWh/100 km, and the difference between the two is the charging loss, so the numbers agree. In the US the EPA rates the 2026 car at 221 miles, about 356 km, a lower figure because the EPA cycle is stricter than WLTP; US outlets list 78 MPGe. For 2026 the US car swaps the CCS inlet for a NACS port, which opens the Tesla Supercharger network, and includes CCS-to-NACS adapters for both AC and DC charging plus a combined Level 1 and Level 2 charging cable.

Design & Interior
The Ioniq 5 N keeps the angular, pixel-lit shape of the regular Ioniq 5 but is wider and lower, with a front fascia that has a large lower intake and orange accent lines, flared arches with air outlets in the front wings and a rear bumper with a diffuser. Israeli outlets report a car that is 80 mm longer, 50 mm wider and 20 mm lower than the regular Ioniq 5, on a reinforced body with aerodynamic changes. The 21-inch forged wheels hide large front discs and calipers painted orange, and the paint range for 2026 in the US adds Performance Blue Pearl.
Inside, the car has N bucket-style front seats with an illuminated N logo in the headrest, Alcantara and leather trim, an N steering wheel with a red N Grin Boost paddle and mode buttons, and two 12.3-inch screens for the digital instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The instrument cluster shows motor and battery temperature readouts in the press images. In Israel the single specification is sold with a Bose audio system, a panoramic sunroof and heated sports seats.
Technology & Features
The driver screen and the central touchscreen run an N-specific interface. Hyundai's press images show a performance menu with motor, steering, suspension, e-LSD and sound settings, a battery temperature page and a list of pre-loaded circuits. Press images of the cabin show the circuit list and a page of custom drive settings. A Bose audio system carries the N Active Sound+ output. Equipment lists from the Israeli importer's market include a 360-degree camera, parking sensors, adaptive cruise control and full LED lighting.
Safety & ADAS
The 2026 US model adds Forward Attention Warning, which uses an in-cabin camera to watch driver attention, and Hyundai Motor America lists it as new for the model year. The Israeli single specification includes seven airbags, a 360-degree camera and adaptive cruise control, and Hyundai's technical data notes that specifications may vary by region and trim, so check the local specification list before ordering.

Pricing & Availability
Hyundai Motor America set the 2026 Ioniq 5 N at $59,900 before the $1,600 destination charge, which is $61,500 delivered and $6,300 less than the previous model year's $66,200 (also before destination), according to electrive and US outlets covering the 15 July 2026 announcement. The 2026 model carries the NACS port, the ten-stage N Drift Optimizer, the combined Level 1 and Level 2 cable and the new colour. Electrek reported in August 2026 that Hyundai had not yet announced a price for a 2027 Ioniq 5 N, so the 2026 figures are the ones on sale.
In Israel the importer Kalmobil, which imports Hyundai, renewed the marketing of the Ioniq 5 N on 17 June 2026 at NIS 409,900, according to queenoftheroad.co.il and cartube.co.il. Cartube puts the previous 2025 list price at NIS 439,990, which makes the new price NIS 30,000 lower. At the ECB rate of 3.048 shekels per dollar on 6 October 2026 that is about $134,500, and Israeli prices include purchase tax and VAT, so they are not comparable with the US sticker. In Germany Hyundai lists the car at EUR 76,500 (price list of July 2026) and for leasing from EUR 599 a month (48 months, 40,000 km, with a one-off payment of EUR 5,090), and in South Korea, the home market, outlets reported about KRW 77 million for the 2025 model after eco-vehicle tax benefits; a current 2026 Korean price is not confirmed here.
How It Compares
The closest sibling is the Ioniq 6 N, a four-door sedan with the same 84 kWh battery and the same 601 and 641 hp outputs. Hyundai UK quotes 487 km WLTP for the sedan against 448 km for the crossover, a 39 km advantage that comes from the lower, slipperier body, while the Ioniq 5 N offers 480 litres of luggage space against 371 litres in the Ioniq 6 N. The Ioniq 6 N costs £65,800 on the road in the UK, and the two cars are not sold at the same price in the same markets, so the choice is about body style rather than price.
The new electric Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 4MATIC+ is the performance benchmark in Europe. It makes 671 hp, claims up to 670 km on WLTP from a 94 kWh (gross) battery and costs EUR 79,039 in Germany, with 0-100 km/h in 2.7 seconds on a one-foot rollout. It is also about the same length as the Hyundai at about 4,740 mm, but its boot holds about 390 litres (preliminary) against 480 litres. The Ioniq 5 N has less power and less range, and it is slower from 0 to 100 km/h, but it is the roomier car. Prices come from different markets and are not like-for-like.
- 641 hp and 770 Nm with N Grin Boost, 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, and an N software package with e-Shift, Active Sound+ and eleven-level torque distribution
- 800-volt charging with up to 260 kW DC and 10-80% in about 18 minutes on a 350 kW charger, plus a NACS port on the 2026 US car
- US price cut by $6,300 to $59,900 and 480 litres of luggage space in a five-seat body
- Range is 448 km WLTP and 221 miles EPA, well below the 670 km claimed for the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 and the 487 km of the Ioniq 6 N
- Kerb weight of 2,275 to 2,305 kg and no towing rating, and the Israeli price of NIS 409,900 is high compared with the US sticker
The Ioniq 5 N is the electric performance car that pays most attention to the driver, with simulated shifts, adjustable sound and a drift mode, and the 641 hp is only available in 10-second bursts. At $59,900 in the US it is a far easier recommendation than before the price cut, and the 800-volt charging makes track days practical. The trade-off is range, which is modest at 448 km WLTP and 221 miles EPA, and a weight of more than two tonnes that you feel on the road. Buy it if you want a fun, practical performance crossover and can live with limited range; skip it if long trips matter more than lap times.
