BYD's Han is a mid-to-large sedan, and the 2026 Han DM-i is the plug-in hybrid version, built on BYD's fifth-generation DM system. The long-range edition went on sale in China on 11 October 2025 with 245 km of electric range on the CLTC cycle, 1,560 km of total range and battery-depleted fuel consumption of 3.44 L/100 km on the NEDC cycle. It launched with four trims at official guide prices of CNY 169,800 to CNY 199,800 (about $25,300 to $29,800 at roughly 6.70 CNY per dollar), and a CNY 10,000 trade-in subsidy at launch brought the same four trims down to CNY 159,800–189,800 (about $23,900–$28,300). Power comes from a 1.5-litre turbo engine rated at 115 kW (154 hp) and a 200 kW (268 hp) front electric motor, enough for 0–100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. The 4,995 mm body rides on a 2,920 mm wheelbase, and the LiDAR Flagship trim adds a roof-mounted lidar to BYD's God's Eye driver-assistance system.
Performance & Specs
The Han DM-i runs BYD's fifth-generation DM (dual-mode) hybrid system, introduced on this car with a newly developed 7-in-1 power domain controller. The 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, rated at 115 kW (154 hp) and 225 Nm, mostly acts as a generator and can also drive the front wheels directly at higher speeds. The 200 kW (268 hp, also quoted as 272 PS) front motor delivers 315 Nm and does most of the driving, so the car behaves like an electric sedan until the battery runs down.
BYD quotes 0–100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and a top speed of 200 km/h, and every trim is front-wheel drive. On a full charge the car covers 245 km on the CLTC cycle. With the battery depleted, BYD rates fuel consumption at 3.44 L/100 km on the NEDC cycle, and it quotes 1,560 km of total range with a full tank and a full battery.

Charging & Battery
All four 245 km trims use a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack. That pack is what lifts the CLTC electric range to 245 km, against 125 km for the older Han DM-i trims. CLTC is a generous test cycle, so real-world electric range will be lower, and cold weather shortens it further.
When the battery is depleted the engine takes over, with BYD rating fuel consumption at 3.44 L/100 km on the NEDC cycle, and the 50-litre tank plus a full charge gives the quoted 1,560 km of total range. Neither the pack capacity nor a peak DC fast-charging figure for the 245 km trims has been confirmed, so none is quoted here.
| BATTERY | LFP (capacity not confirmed) |

Design & Interior
The 2026 Han adds three paint colours to the range: Frost-Pine Gold, Pine Shadow Green and Far-Peak Blue. Inside, a leather-wrapped centre console takes the place of piano-black trim, and a 15.6-inch central touchscreen sits beside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.
The Comfort trim covers the basics. From the Premium trim the seats gain ventilation and heating, and the Prestige trim adds seat massage and a 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system. The upper trims also carry an in-car refrigerator.
Technology & Features
The cabin runs BYD's DiLink 100 system, which now integrates the DeepSeek large language model for voice interaction. On the chassis side, every trim except the base Comfort gets the DiSus-C intelligent damping system, which reads the road up to 15 metres ahead and adjusts the dampers in real time. TBC tyre-blowout stability control is standard across the range.
Safety & ADAS
All trims carry Level 2 driver assistance as standard, but the Comfort trim omits the higher-level DiPilot 100 package with highway navigation assist. The Premium and Prestige trims use the camera-based God's Eye C (DiPilot 100), which adds highway navigation assist, indicator-stalk lane changes and parking assist. The LiDAR Flagship moves to God's Eye B (DiPilot 300), which adds a roof-mounted lidar, an NVIDIA Orin-X chip and city navigation assist, and BYD quotes more than 300 supported parking scenarios for the system.
| ADAS LEVEL | L2 (DiPilot 100 camera-based; DiPilot 300 with lidar on the LiDAR Flagship) |
|---|---|
| ADAS FEATURES | Highway navigation assist and automatic parking (DiPilot 100 and up), roof lidar and NVIDIA Orin-X chip (LiDAR Flagship), TBC tyre-blowout stability control (standard) |

Pricing & Availability
BYD launched the Han DM-i long-range edition on 11 October 2025, alongside three Han EV variants. The four DM-i trims carry official guide prices of CNY 169,800 (about $25,300), CNY 179,800 (about $26,800), CNY 189,800 (about $28,300) and CNY 199,800 (about $29,800). A CNY 10,000 trade-in subsidy available at launch, with a 31 October 2025 deadline, put the same trims at CNY 159,800, CNY 169,800, CNY 179,800 and CNY 189,800 (about $23,900 to $28,300). Promotions change over time, so the price actually paid depends on the incentives available when you buy.
The Han DM-i nameplate has been on sale since 2022, and the older 125 km trims started at CNY 168,800. Buyers who would rather have a pure EV can look at the Han EV Flash Charge Edition, priced from CNY 179,800 to CNY 187,800 (about $26,800 to $28,000). As of September 2026 the Han DM-i is sold in the Chinese domestic market, and BYD has not confirmed a European or North American launch.
How It Compares
Inside BYD's own range, the Seal 08 PHEV starts at CNY 196,900 (about $29,400), roughly CNY 27,100 (about $4,000) above the Han DM-i's entry price. In return it offers a longer 400 km CLTC electric range, a 5,150 mm body and up to 536 hp on the all-wheel-drive trim. The Han DM-i's counter is the lower price and a 1,560 km total range that is only 100 km short of the Seal 08's 1,660 km.
Against the XPeng P7+ REV, which starts at CNY 186,800 (about $27,900), the Han DM-i undercuts by about CNY 17,000 (about $2,500) and matches it on total range, 1,560 km against 1,550 km. The P7+ REV answers with 430 km of electric range and 5C charging, but its engine only generates power, whereas the Han's engine can also drive the wheels directly. For a pure EV in the same family, the Han EV Flash Charge Edition starts at CNY 179,800, about CNY 10,000 above the DM-i's entry trim.
Pros & Cons
- 245 km of CLTC electric range and 1,560 km of total range, with battery-depleted fuel consumption of 3.44 L/100 km (NEDC)
- 268 hp and 0–100 km/h in 6.7 seconds from a front-drive plug-in hybrid sedan that starts at about $25,300
- Roof lidar and DiPilot 300 on the LiDAR Flagship, which still lists below CNY 200,000 (CNY 199,800, about $29,800)
- The base Comfort trim goes without DiSus-C adaptive damping and the DiPilot 100 driver-assistance package
- Front-wheel drive only, with no all-wheel-drive option in the Han DM-i range
- Not confirmed for Europe or North America as of September 2026
FreshMotors Verdict
The 2026 Han DM-i suits buyers who want a large sedan that runs mostly on electricity yet never needs a plug on a long trip: 245 km of CLTC electric range, 1,560 km of total range, 268 hp and a LiDAR Flagship trim priced below CNY 200,000 (CNY 199,800, about $29,800). The Premium trim at CNY 179,800 (about $26,800) is the sensible centre of the range, because it adds the DiSus-C damping and DiPilot 100 package that the base Comfort trim lacks. The trade-offs are a CLTC range that flatters real-world use, front-wheel drive only and no confirmed launch outside China. For shoppers in China it is one of the easiest large-sedan recommendations at this price.
