Volvo's smallest electric SUV has entered model year 2027 with a cheaper way in and a wider Cross Country line-up. The headline change is the new P3 version, which pairs a 110 kW (150 PS, about 148 hp) electric motor with a 51 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery for up to 335 km of WLTP range. In Germany it is priced from EUR 34,990 (recommended retail price), the lowest price in the EX30 range. Above it, the P5 Long Range reaches up to 475 km WLTP, the twin-motor P8 AWD delivers 315 kW (428 PS, about 422 hp), and the Cross Country, with 190 mm of ground clearance, gains a new Plus trim from EUR 48,990. Volvo also added two interior designs, called Harvest and Black, and prepared the hardware for vehicle-to-load (V2L) power output, with the software promised by over-the-air update. The prices and ranges below are German unless stated; Israel is covered in the availability section.
Performance & Specs
The EX30 is built on a rear-drive electric layout, and model year 2027 keeps the three existing power levels while adding a fourth below them. The new P3 uses one rear motor rated at 110 kW (150 PS, about 148 hp); Volvo Germany's specification page lists 343 Nm of torque, a 0-100 km/h time of 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h for it. The P5 uses a single rear motor of 200 kW (272 PS, about 268 hp) and 343 Nm, with a 0-100 km/h time of 5.7 seconds on the 51 kWh battery and 5.3 seconds on the 69 kWh battery, according to the Volvo UK technical data sheet. The P8 AWD adds a 115 kW (156 PS) front motor for a combined 315 kW (428 PS, about 422 hp) and 543 Nm, and Volvo UK quotes 3.6 seconds to 100 km/h, or 3.7 seconds in the Cross Country. Top speed is 180 km/h (112 mph) across the range. Volvo names the new motors with the P-numbering introduced on the EX60, so P3, P5 and P8 refer to power levels rather than battery sizes.

Charging & Battery
The 51 kWh gross battery of the P3 and P5 Electric uses LFP chemistry with 49 kWh usable, a 400-volt architecture and an eight-year, 160,000 km battery warranty according to EV Database (Volvo UK states 8 years or 100,000 miles). Per Volvo Germany's specification page and configurator, the 51 kWh P3 and P5 charge at up to 150 kW, taking 26 minutes for 10-80%, and the 69 kWh versions charge at up to 175 kW in 27 minutes. The Volvo UK data sheet of July 2026 quotes lower peaks, at 134 kW and 26 minutes for the 51 kWh P5 and 153 kW and 27 minutes for the 69 kWh pack, and EV Database lists 134 kW and 27 minutes for the P3. The 69 kWh pack has 65 kWh usable. AC charging is 11 kW three-phase as standard, with 22 kW three-phase on Ultra trims in the UK. Volvo UK quotes a full AC charge of about nine hours on the 51 kWh car at 7.2 kW and 12 hours for the 69 kWh car. Plug and Charge is standard, so the car authenticates itself at compatible public chargers.

Design & Interior
The EX30 keeps its short-overhang shape, with the closed grille panel, Thor's-hammer-style headlights and a compact tail that came with the original 2024 car. Cross Country versions add a front bumper with a Kebnekaise mountain-range graphic, matt graphite 19-inch wheels, C-pillar branding and integrated skid plates. Model year 2027 introduces two interior themes. Harvest is a light cabin with woven recycled textile, contrasting Nordico upholstery made partly from recycled PET bottles and dark flax decor under a black headliner. Black is a deep-black cabin with smooth Nordico seats, contrast stitching and dark flax decor. The Black Edition, which was previously offered only with the Indigo interior, can now also be ordered in Black, and its exterior choices are Onyx Black, Vapour Grey and Crystal White. The dashboard remains deliberately sparse, with a soundbar under the windscreen and almost every function routed through the central touchscreen.
Technology & Features
A 12.3-inch portrait touchscreen runs Google Automotive Services, including Google Maps and Google Assistant, and supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For model year 2027 Volvo reworked the user interface so the most-used controls are easier to reach and added a customisable content bar for the actions drivers use most. Volvo said the new interface and the V2L software would arrive during the summer of 2026 by over-the-air update, for new and existing EX30 owners, with V2L initially in selected markets and an adapter sold as an accessory. We could not confirm from Volvo's pages how far the rollout had progressed by October 2026. EV Database lists a V2L output of 3.0 kW for the P3. Plus trims add a Harman Kardon system, heated seats and steering wheel, a power tailgate and dual-zone climate control, while Ultra adds a 360-degree camera, park assist and a fixed panoramic roof.
Safety & ADAS
Every EX30 has front and rear radar plus a front camera feeding collision avoidance with braking and steering support, blind-spot information with steering assist, cross-traffic alert with braking, lane-keeping aid, driver alert control and run-off road mitigation, according to the Volvo UK specification. Pilot Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with steering assistance and lane-change support, is added from the Plus trim upwards. Standard passive safety includes full-length inflatable curtains, whiplash protection for the front seats and Volvo's Safe Space body structure.

Pricing & Availability
Volvo's German recommended retail prices (UVP) for model year 2027 start at EUR 34,990 for the Essential P3, EUR 36,990 for the Essential P5, EUR 43,490 for the Core P5 Long Range and EUR 54,190 for the Ultra P8 AWD, as shown in Volvo Germany's online configurator and reported by electrive. The Cross Country Plus P5 Long Range costs EUR 48,990. At the exchange rate of 1.1269 US dollars per euro on 6 October 2026 the P3 works out to about $39,400. In the UK, where the P3 is not offered, Volvo's July 2026 price list shows the EX30 from GBP 32,195 for the Core P5 and the Cross Country from GBP 40,395 for the Plus P5 Long Range, all including VAT. In Israel, price lists on auto.co.il and icar show the EX30 from NIS 179,900 to NIS 239,900 across five versions (Meir is Volvo's importer in Israel); those prices date from an April 2024 reduction and the model-year 2027 P3 and the Cross Country have no announced Israeli price. Volvo's German launch release, as reported by electrive, gives mid-May 2026 as the start of model-year 2027 production, while Volvo Car Austria's February release named mid-April.
How It Compares
The comparison that matters most is inside the EX30 range. The P3 saves EUR 2,000 against the P5 but gives up roughly 120 hp and about three seconds to 100 km/h, while the range is about the same (P3 335 km, P5 337 km WLTP), so the P5 Electric is the better buy for most drivers who can stretch the budget. The jump to the P5 Long Range costs EUR 8,500 over the P3 and lifts range from 335 km to 475 km, which is the larger practical gain. The Cross Country Plus costs EUR 5,500 more than the Core Long Range, partly for its higher Plus trim level, and gives up 12 km of WLTP range for the lifted body. The P8 AWD is the performance option at 422 hp, and its range falls only to 450 km.
- New P3 brings the EX30 to EUR 34,990 in Germany with 335 km WLTP and up to 150 kW DC charging
- Wide range of versions: up to 475 km on the P5 Long Range and 422 hp with 3.6 s to 100 km/h on the P8 AWD
- Cross Country adds 19 mm of ground clearance, skid plates and a new Plus trim from EUR 48,990
- The P3 is slower (8.6 s to 100 km/h per Volvo Germany) and offers no more range than the P5 Electric, which has the same 51 kWh battery
- V2L depends on a later over-the-air update and an accessory adapter, and Volvo says availability varies by market
The EX30 for 2027 is a more complete range rather than a new car. The P3 makes a Volvo electric SUV available from EUR 34,990 in Germany, but its 110 kW motor and 335 km WLTP range make it a commuter car, and the P5 Electric offers much stronger performance for EUR 2,000 more. The best value sits with the P5 Long Range at 475 km, while the Cross Country Plus and the 422 hp P8 AWD suit buyers who want a lifted body or real speed. Buyers outside Germany should check local price lists, because Israel still shows 2024 pricing and the Cross Country has no Israeli price.
