The Geely Galaxy Xingyao 6 (Geely's English-language name is Starshine 6) is a compact four-door plug-in hybrid sedan (PHEV) from Geely's Galaxy brand, built on the GEA architecture and sold in China since 30 October 2025. It uses the Thor AI Hybrid EM 2.0 system, which pairs a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine rated at 82 kW (about 110 hp) with a 120 kW (163 PS / 161 hp) front drive motor and a one-speed dedicated hybrid transmission. Two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries are offered, 8.5 kWh for 60 km and 17 kWh for 125 km of pure-electric range on the Chinese CLTC cycle, and Geely quotes up to 1,700 km of combined range. The official guide prices run from CNY 74,800 to CNY 105,800, or about $11,156 to $15,780 at the ECB rate of 1 USD = 6.7048 CNY, and a trade-in offer on Geely's own page, running until 31 October 2026, takes CNY 6,000 off each trim. Alongside the plug-in hybrid, Geely also lists a methanol-capable version called the Xingyao 6 EF, and it has confirmed an Emgrand-badged sibling, the Emgrand L EM-i, for Australia in the first half of 2027.
Performance & Specs
The Xingyao 6 is a plug-in hybrid with two electric machines, a P1 unit and a P3 traction motor. Geely rates the P3 motor at 120 kW (163 PS, about 161 hp) and 210 Nm, and the 1.5-litre four-cylinder at 82 kW (about 110 hp) and 136 Nm, with a claimed engine thermal efficiency of 47.26 percent. Geely has not published a combined system output or a 0 to 100 km/h time; the only acceleration figures on its page are 40 to 80 km/h in 3.72 seconds and 80 to 120 km/h in 5.54 seconds. The top speed in the Chinese type-approval filing is 180 km/h, and the car is front-wheel drive with MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam at the rear.
Fuel economy is the headline claim. Geely quotes a battery-depleted CLTC consumption in the "2-litre class", and press coverage of the launch gives 2.8 L/100 km, alongside the 1,700 km combined-range claim. Geely does not tie that figure to a particular trim, so it is best read as a model-wide, up-to claim. The car weighs 1,505 to 1,580 kg according to the filing. Geely's line-up also includes the EF version, a methanol-electric hybrid that is covered in the Charging & Battery section below, so the figures in this section describe the standard EM plug-in hybrid.

The Xingyao 6 is a 4,806 mm long, 1,886 mm wide and 1,490 mm high sedan with a 2,756 mm wheelbase, which puts it in the compact-to-mid-size class despite its entry-level price. Geely's page gives a 609-litre boot, 970 mm of front headroom, 65 mm of rear knee room and 1,480 mm of rear elbow room, and quotes an 83.5 percent space-utilisation ratio. The front seats use a nine-layer foam construction that Geely calls the marshmallow seat, with 80 mm of foam including 20 mm of memory foam, and the rear backrest is angled at 28 degrees. The independent outlet paultan.org notes that the rear suspension is a torsion beam, unusual in this class, which keeps cost down at some expense to ride refinement.

Charging & Battery
Both packs are LFP, supplied by CALB and Rept according to the July 2025 type-approval filing, and Geely does not publish gross or usable capacity beyond the 8.5 kWh and 17 kWh names that the press uses. The 8.5 kWh pack is paired with the 60 km trims and the 17 kWh pack with the 125 km trims. Geely's official trim list shows DC fast charging only on the 125 km Freedom, 125 km Extended and EF trims, while paultan.org reports a 35 kW DC rate, which takes 30 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes, and 3.3 kW AC charging. The battery is wrapped in what Geely calls the Aegis battery safety system, which it says passed more than 100 extreme tests, 23 of them beyond national standards.
The EF version replaces the petrol engine with a 1.5-litre engine built to burn methanol. The Chinese type-approval filing lists a maximum output of 93 kW (about 125 hp) and a net output of 90 kW, the battery is again LFP, reportedly from Gotion, and Geely has not published its capacity. Geely says methanol and petrol can be mixed in any ratio in the same tank, that a fuel sensor measures the methanol concentration and adjusts injection and ignition, and that the engine uses 350 bar direct injection and was tested for cold starts at very low temperatures. Its official battery-depleted CLTC figure is 6.7 litres of methanol per 100 km, against the 2-litre-class petrol figure of the standard car. The EF's electric range is part of the trim name, 130 km, but Geely's page does not define the cycle or battery size, and the methanol refuelling network in China is still thin, so petrol remains the fallback.
| BATTERY | 8.5 kWh (60 km trims) or 17 kWh (125 km trims), LFP; EF capacity not published |
|---|---|
| AC CHARGING | 3.3 kW |
| DC FAST CHARGING | 35 kW reported (DC charging listed only on the 125 km Freedom, 125 km Extended and EF trims) |
| DC 30-80% TIME | About 20 min (17 kWh, reported) |

Design & Interior
The Xingyao 6 has a tall vertical-slat grille with a Geely emblem at its centre, slim LED headlights that Geely calls the flying-eaves tiger-eye lamps, and a horizontal light signature across the tail, a look that some outlets compared with Mercedes-AMG. It is the Galaxy-badged twin of the fifth-generation Geely Emgrand: the roofline, headlights and side profile are shared, and mainly the front end and tail lamps differ. Wheels are 16-inch on the lower trims and 17-inch on the upper ones, and the exterior colours shown on Geely's page are blue, silver, white, black and grey.
Inside, a 14.6-inch central screen and a 10.2-inch driver display sit on a horizontal dashboard with capsule-shaped air vents, a wide centre tunnel with a 50 W wireless phone charger, and a column-mounted gear stalk with a rotary knob on the console. The interior colours are white, brown and grey, the upper trims have power-adjustable and heated front seats with ventilation on the top trim, and launch coverage lists a panoramic camera and ambient lighting as standard. Material quality looks above the price class in the official photos, although the cheapest trims leave out several comfort items that the upper trims include.
Technology & Features
The cockpit runs Flyme Auto on Geely's in-house 7 nm automotive chip with a large-language-model voice assistant, more than 300 apps and Amap navigation, and the GEEA 3.0 electronic architecture supports over-the-air updates. A phone Bluetooth key is listed from the entry trim, and most coverage describes a 14.6-inch central screen, although Geely's fine print lists that screen as a limited-time upgrade on the 60 km Departure, so the Freedom entry trim may differ. The official page also credits the car with a Sentry mode on the top trim and 540-degree surround view from the Exploration trim, and the October 2026 offer includes five years of city and highway navigation assistance on the Starship trim, discussed in the Pricing section.
Safety & ADAS
Geely says 71.6 percent of the body structure is high-strength steel, with hot-formed boron steel door rings and engine-sinking protection, and the car has six airbags according to paultan.org. Driver assistance is tiered: the lower trims have basic Level 2 assistance that Geely is currently adding as a limited-time upgrade on the Exploration and Extended trims, while the Starship trim has the Qianli Haohan H3 system with 11 cameras, 3 millimetre-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors and a driver-assistance chip with 128 TOPS. Geely's page describes 28 functions including highway navigation assist with automatic lane changes and ramp handling, and launch coverage counted 34, so the exact feature count depends on the source. No crash-test rating has been published as of October 2026.
| ADAS LEVEL | L2 (basic assistance on mid trims; H3 with highway navigation assist on the Starship trim) |
|---|---|
| ADAS FEATURES | Basic L2 assistance (mid trims), H3 highway and city navigation assist, lane-change assist and memory parking (Starship), panoramic camera, 540° surround view (Exploration and above), Sentry mode (Starship), six airbags |

Pricing & Availability
Geely's official guide prices for the seven plug-in hybrid trims are CNY 74,800, 77,800, 85,800, 85,800, 89,800, 95,800 and 105,800, or $11,156, $11,604, $12,797, $12,797, $13,393, $14,288 and $15,780. The EF trim has the same CNY 85,800 guide price as the 60 km Exploration and 125 km Freedom. On its Xingyao 6 page on 19 October 2026 Geely shows these as limited-time prices from CNY 68,800 ($10,261) to CNY 99,800 ($14,885): each is the guide price minus a CNY 6,000 (about $895) trade-in subsidy that applies to any old car, and the order must be locked and the car paid for and collected by 31 October 2026. The same offer lists interest-free financing of up to CNY 50,000 for 24 months, free equipment upgrades worth up to CNY 5,000, five years of city and highway navigation assistance worth CNY 7,500 on the Starship trim, a lifetime warranty on the battery, motor and controller plus a 6-year or 150,000 km vehicle warranty for the first private owner, and a wall charger worth CNY 3,690 on the 125 km and EF trims.
The car launched on 30 October 2025 at the same CNY 74,800-105,800 guide prices and CNY 68,800-99,800 launch prices, and pre-sales in September 2025 started at CNY 79,800. According to CarNewsChina, Geely sold 1,532 Xingyao 6 cars in the launch month and 8,708 in December 2025. In February 2026 the Chinese type-approval list showed a version with a 28.3 kWh battery and 170 km of CLTC electric range, but Geely's own page does not list it as of October 2026, so it should be treated as filed rather than on sale. Outside China, Geely has confirmed an Emgrand-badged sibling, the Emgrand L EM-i, for Australia in the first half of 2027, where Geely quotes an 18.4 kWh battery and more than 80 km of WLTP electric range; CarsGuide and the Canberra Times both describe it as a sedan aimed at the Toyota Camry, and no price has been announced. At the Beijing show in April 2026 Proton's chief executive called the Xingyao 6 a potential Proton model, which is not a confirmed launch.
How It Compares
The closest relative is the Galaxy A7 PHEV, a larger plug-in sedan from the same brand that our own article lists from CNY 89,800 ($13,393) with 175 kW (235 hp), 8.5 or 18.4 kWh batteries, 70 or 150 km of CLTC electric range and 2,100 km combined, so the Xingyao 6 undercuts it by $2,237 at the base trim and gives up 74 hp and 400 km of combined range, while its 125 km electric range is below the A7's top 150 km. The BYD Qin L DM-i, from CNY 96,800 ($14,437) in our article, has the same 120 kW (161 hp) motor output but a much longer electric range of up to 210 km (128 km on the smaller pack), so it is the better choice for buyers who charge daily, while the Xingyao 6 undercuts it by $3,281 at the base trim. The BYD Qin Max DM-i starts at CNY 99,900 ($14,899) with 235 hp and up to 2,370 km combined, which makes it the performance and range option, and the Xingyao 6 base car is $3,743 cheaper. The Geely's pitch is therefore price, equipment and a roomy 609-litre boot rather than outright electric range or power, and the figures for rivals are CLTC and China launch prices taken from our own articles and launch reports.
- Guide price from CNY 74,800 ($11,156), and CNY 68,800 ($10,261) with the October 2026 trade-in offer, for a 4,806 mm sedan with a 14.6-inch screen option
- Up to 1,700 km claimed combined range (a model-wide figure) and about 2.8 L/100 km with the battery depleted, plus 125 km of CLTC electric range from the 17 kWh pack
- Spacious body: 2,756 mm wheelbase, 609 L boot and 1,480 mm of rear elbow room, plus a 6-year or 150,000 km warranty for the first private owner
- Electric range is only 60 or 125 km CLTC, and Geely lists DC fast charging only on the 125 km Freedom, 125 km Extended and EF trims, while the reported DC rate is just 35 kW
- No published 0 to 100 km/h time, a torsion-beam rear axle, and the better driver assistance is limited to the CNY 105,800 Starship trim
The Xingyao 6 is a straightforward value proposition: a roomy 4.8-metre plug-in hybrid sedan with a modern Flyme Auto cockpit, a claimed 1,700 km of combined range and a guide price that starts at CNY 74,800 ($11,156). It trades electric range and power for price, with 60 or 125 km of CLTC range and a motor of 161 hp, and the best equipment is reserved for the Starship trim. We would pick the 125 km Extended at CNY 89,800 ($13,393, or CNY 83,800 with the trade-in offer) as the sweet spot, and look at the Qin L DM-i instead if daily electric range matters more than price.
